사회적자본이 국가자긍심에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 많은 연구들에서 긍정적 변수로 사용되는 사회적 자본이 국가자긍심에 영향을 미치는 요인을 검증하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 종속변수를 국가자긍심으로 하고 독립변수를 시민참여(수평적)와 국민정체성(소속지역에 대한 거리감), 사회자본으로 하였다. 연구결과 시사하는 바는 소속 지역에 대한 거리감이 가까울수록 사회자본에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고, 사회자본이 국가자긍심에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 것이다. 본 연구에서의 종속변수인 사회자본을 정부와 사회지도층에 대한 신뢰, 누구나 노력하면 계층 상승할 수 있는 제도에 대한 신뢰, 사회구성원에 대한 신뢰로 하였다는 점에서 지역에 대한 소속감이 시사하는 바가 크다고 할 수 있다. 즉 지역에 대한 소속감이 강할수록 한국 사회전반에 대한 신뢰감이 높아지며, 이러한 신뢰감은 국가에 대한 자긍심에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 것이다. 사회전반에 대한 신뢰를 향상시켜 사회적 갈등비용을 감소시키고 국가자긍심을 높이기 위해서는 지역에 대한 소속감을 강화할 수 있는 제도적·정책적 대안이 마련되어야 함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study is to identify which social capital variables have positive effects on national pride by analyzing social capital variables. In many studies, social capital is used as a positive variable. To this end, the author identifies national pride as a dependent variable while citizens participation (horizontal) and national identity (subjective distance to the community) and social capital as independent variables. The study suggests that the closer subjective distance is, the greater impact it has upon social capital. The implication of this study is that it identifies the following three types of trust as social capital, the dependent variable: members' trust on government and political leadership, trust on the system that promises upward movement of the social ladder, and trust between members of society. In other words, the stronger members' sense of belonging to the community, the greater trust it will be in the community, which in turn has positive impact on national pride. This study concludes with the suggestion that policies and systems to strengthen members' sense of belonging need to be in place, in order to reduce social costs related to social conflict by raising overall trusts in society and promoting national pride.
