영문 초록

This study presents the preliminary findings of a comprehensive study in a statistical region/ a potential tourism destination. The touristic capital addresses the capacities, talents, and the agents of a tourism destination that trigger the hotel occupancy rates. In the study, drawing upon the literature on cultural tourism and touristic capital, a model applied to the region consisted of 3 provinces (39 cities) in mid- part of Turkey. Spatial analysis employed to reveal the relationship among variables namely; the foreign tourists' hotel occupancy rates and cultural assets. The data obtained from the official websites of Turkish Ministries, municipalities, and development agencies relevant to tourism affairs. The cultural assets including (cultural heritage, museums, art galleries, theatres, operas and ballets, orchestras, choir groups, cinemas, fairs and certain days and weeks) have an impact on tourism capital and increase the occupancy rates. The study highlights the significant impact of cultural assets on touristic capital.
