국문 초록

가톨릭교회는 페미니즘에 대해 긍정적ㆍ부정적 측면 둘 다 언급한다. 교황청 신앙교리성은 「인공유산 반대 선언문」에서 "여성해방운동이 부당한 차별로부터의 해방 모색이라면, 건전한 근거위에 있다"며 페미니즘 운동에 대한 긍정적 측면을 평가한다. 하지만 (페미니즘에서 말하는) "성 해방을 자녀 출산을 지향하는 부부생활의 근본 방향을 무시하며 성적 쾌락을 추구할 자유로 이해한다면, 이는 인간답지 못한 일"이라고 비판한다. 이 글은 페미니즘의 이론들과 한국에서의 페미니즘 흐름을 알아보고, 페미니즘이 생명문화에 끼친 긍정적ㆍ부정적 영향에 대해 고찰하며 이와 관련된 가톨릭교회 가르침을 살펴보고자 했다. 페미니스트들은 여성의 권익 신장과 사회 인식 변화에 긍정적 영향을 끼쳤다. 하지만 여성 자신의 몸에 대한 자기결정권과 낙태 선택권, 자유로운 성 선택을 주장하기도 한다. 시험관 수정과 인간배아연구 등의 문제에서는 지배당하는 여성의 몸에 주목하고 인간 생명인 배아가 파괴되는 문제에는 침묵한다. 생명문화라는 큰 틀에서 볼 때, 페미니스트들의 활동이 일관적이지 않음을 알 수 있다. 따라서 페미니스트들이 가장 약한 생명에도 관심을 갖도록 시각 확대와 '뉴 페미니즘'이 요구된다. 또한 교회 생명운동 단체들이 인간생명수호 활동에 미온적인 교회 여성운동 단체와 연대할 것을 제안한다. 자연출산조절법(배란법)이 페미니즘 요소를 담고 있다는 것을 부각시켜 보급할 것도 제안한다. 그렇게 할 때 그 한계를 극복할 수 있기 때문이다.

영문 초록

The Catholic Church mentioned both the positive and negative aspects of feminism. 'Declaration on Procured Abortion' has announced by Pontifical Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith said that "the movement for the emancipation of women, insofar as it seeks essentially to free them from all unjust discrimination, is on perfectly sound ground." However, the Declaration condemned "if sexual freedom is to understand that men and women are 'free' to seek sexual pleasure to the point of satiety, without the essential orientation of sexual life to its fruits of fertility, then it is even unworthy of man." This paper deals with feminist movements in Korea last four decades, and examined both its positive and negative aspects related to the teachings of the Catholic Church. Feminist movements contributed to the promotion of women' rights and changed people's negative perception toward women. On the other hand, feminists have asserted the right to choose an abortion, the right to self-determination, and the right to free sex. They have focused on abuse of women's body and exploitation of women due to in vitro fertilization treatment and human embryo research. However, they are silent on the destruction of human embryos during those procedures. These feminists' attitude is not consistent and coherent from the perspective of the culture of life which respect human life. 'New feminism' is required to respect human embryo which is the beginning of human life and needs the most protection in the weakest moment of life. In addition, pro-life movement organizations in the Catholic Church need to cooperate with catholic women's movement organizations. They can promote Billings's ovulation method which has contained the elements of feminism.
