국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 물류자동화 시스템의 사용 실태를 조사하여 체계적으로 분류함으로써 구체적인 물류자동화 시스템의 영향을 실증적으로 검증하는 것이다. 물류자동화 시스템의 도입에 어떠한 동기들이 있으며 이러한 동기들과 기업의 운영성과와는 어떠한 관계가 있는지를 분석한다. 문헌연구를 통하여 물류자동화 시스템을 분류하고 이 시스템의 도입 동기와 기업의 운영성과에 대한 측정항목을 추출하였다. 우리나라 184개의 제조업체로부터 수집한 설문조사 자료를 활용하여 신뢰성 및 타당성 분석, 구조방정식 모형을 통한 확인적 요인분석, 회귀분석 및 Sobel test를 통해 연구모형을 검증하고 연구결과를 도출하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 물류자동화 시스템의 도입 동기를 알아본 결과, 기업이 물류자동화 시스템을 도입할 때는 기업의 전략이 중요한 결정요소로써 고려되는 것으로 분석되었다. 이에 해당되는 기업의 전략으로는 원가지향 전략, 유연성지향 전략, 시장지향 전략으로 나타났다. 둘째, 3가지 기업의 전략 유형이 물류자동화 시스템의 도입에 정(+)의 영향을 주며 이러한 물류자동화 시스템은 기업의 운영성과에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다시 말하면, 물류자동화 시스템은 기업의 전략에 맞게 도입되어 기업의 운영성과에 정(+)의 영향을 주었다. 셋째, 회귀분석과 Sobel test를 통하여 물류자동화 시스템의 매개효과를 입증하였다. 기업의 전략에 부합하는 물류자동화 시스템의 도입과 물류자동화 시스템의 수준으로 기업의 운영성과가 더욱 향상될 수 있음을 알 수 있다. 본 연구의 결과를 통하여, 기업은 성장과 이윤추구를 위한 전략 설정과 물류자동화 시스템의 투자에 대한 의사결정에 효과적인 방법과 방향을 제시함으로써 실무적 의사결정에 큰 도움이 될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purposes of this study are to define and classify material handling systems and to examine empirically the impact of specific automation systems with the causal relationships among material handling systems, the motives of introducing automation systems, and operational performance. Survey-based data for this study was collected from 184 Korean manufacturing firms and the measurement scales were tested and validated using confirmatory factor analysis, reliability test, structure equation modeling, and regression analysis. The results are as follows. First, the motives of introducing material handling systems are correlated with firm's business strategy. The types of business strategy are low cost strategy, flexibility strategy and marketingintensive strategy. Second, the three types of business strategy have a positive impact on introducing material handling systems. And material handling systems also have a positive impact on operational performance. For the last, material handling systems mediate the impact between firm's business strategy and the operational performance. The mediating effect was proved through regression analysis, Sobel test, and the structure equation modeling. The result shows that the fit between firm's business strategy and material handling systems improves firm's operational performance. This study will offer guidance on how strategy and automation investment can be selectively matched to attain either profitability or growth.
