국문 초록

이 논문은 존슨과 오버만에 의해서 제안된 기독교교육과정 개발 모형으로 서의 BWI(성경적 세계관 통합)를 비평적으로 고찰하였다. 그간 이 모형 전반에 대해서 비평 소개한 논문들은 있었으나 그 모형이 가지고 있는 세계관을 신학적으로 정밀하게 고찰한 논문은 거의 없었다. 이에 이 논문에서 연구자는 BWI 모형의 세계관을 신학적으로 성찰하는 작업을 수행하고 나서 기독교 학교 교육 분야에서 일하고 있는 기독교사들을 위해서 이 모형을 소개하고, 교육적 적용점을 제시하였다. BWI 모형은 세계관의 핵심 요소로 지목한 다섯 가지 요소가 왜 선택되어야 하는지에 대해서 충분한 설명을 제시하지 않는다. 그리고 이미 존재하는 교과를 비평 없이 받아들이는 경향이 있다. 뿐만 아니라 학생들에게 교육 과정을 전달함에 있어서 지적인 측면을 과도하게 강조하는 모습을 보이고 있다. 하지만 이와 같은 몇 가지 약점에도 불구하고, 이 모형은 기독교학교교육의 현장에서 일하는 기독교사들에게 아주 가치 있는 제안을 주고 있다. 이 모형은 기존에 주어진 교육과정을 기독교 세계관에 부합하게 가르칠 수 있는 방안을 실제적으로 제시해주고 있으며, 교사들이 교육과정을 스스로 개발할 때에 표준화된 도구로 이용될 수 있다. 종국적으로는 이러한 교육과정 개발 작업을 통해 기독교사들이 스스로의 교육과정 개발 능력을 함양시킬 수 있다.

영문 초록

In this article the writer intends to critically review the BWI(Biblical Worldview Integration) as a Model of Christian Curriculum Development proposed by Johnson and Overman. Especially, the worldview that is suggested in the model is reviewed with the biblical worldview. Then, the writer suggests several educational implications drawn from the model for the Christian educators working in the field of Christian school education. BWI does not sufficiently explain the reason why the five elements of the worldview in it can be selected as core elements. This model tends to accept the existing curriculum without any critique. It excessively emphasizes the intellectual aspect in delivering educational curriculum to students. Although several weak points can be found in the model, it is able to bring valuable educational advantages to the Christian educators working in the field of Christian school education. First, this model can be efficiently used for the educators to integrate any curriculum with the Christian worldview. Second, it suggests practical methods to restructure existing curriculum in accordance with the Christian worldview. Third, it plays the role of a standardized tool with which Christian educators cooperate to make curriculum. Fourth, it is to help the educators to cultivate their ability in teaching curriculum in accordance with the Christian worldview.
