경로당 임원 노인에게 있어 리더쉽의 의미에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 한국의 경로당 임원 노인들이 생각하는 리더쉽의 개념을 이해하고, 이를 바탕으로 향후 경로당 임원의 리더쉽 향상 프로그램 개발을 위한 방향성을 제시하고자 하는 것이다. 연구 목적을 달성하기 위해 포커스 그룹과 이를 보완할 양적 방법을 사용하는 등 다원화(triangulation)를 활용한 질적 연구방법을 사용하였다. 연구참여자는 서울시에 소재한 경로당에서 3년 이상 임원으로 활동해온 노인으로서 경로당 활성화를 위한 리더쉽 개발 사업에 참여하고 있는 임원 총 34명이다. 분석방법은 Colaizzi의 현상학적 연구방법을 사용하였으며, Colaizzi가 제시한 6가지의 구체적 단계들에 의거하였다. 연구결과, 경로당 임원 노인들이 생각하는 리더쉽의 의미로 총 17개의 주제와 6개의 주제묶음이 도출되었다. 6개의 주제묶음은 <편안한 분위기를 조성함>, <심신의 즐거움을 제공함>, <이타적으로 행동함>, <분별력 있게 행동함>, <목표달성을 위한 동기를 부여함>, <조직을 효율적으로 운영함> 등 이다. 이 결과에 대한 양적 평가에서도 각 주제묶음들은 3점 만점에 2.5이상의 높은 평균점수가 나타나 연구결과에 대한 신빙성을 보여주었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 임원들의 관점에서 실질적으로 경험하는 리더쉽의 의미가 무엇인지에 대한 통찰력을 제공하였고, 이를 통해 임원 리더쉽 향상 프로그램 제공 시, 건전하고 생산적인 오락 프로그램의 활성화, 경로당의 특성에 맞는 리더의 대인관계기술과 의사소통기술의 훈련, 경로당과 지역사회의 유기적 협력관계 형성기술 개발의 필요성을 언급하였다. 또한 경로당 이용 노인들이 원하는 리더쉽에 대한 욕구 파악과 한국 경로당 임원 대상의 리더쉽 척도 개발을 위한 후속 연구를 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This study aimed at presenting the direction of development of program promoting leadership among the aged leaders at the senior centers, which is based on the idea of understanding the concept of leadership of Korean senior centers' elderly leaders. For the purpose of this study, we applied both qualitative research method and quantitative method to complement it. 34 Elderly with 3 year experience as a leader participated in this survey and they had been joined development of leadership programmes activating senior centers. The outcome is analysed by Colaizzi's phenomenological method and Colaizzi's 6 steps specifically. According to the research, we found out the 17 themes and 6 meaning units about the meaning of leadership among the senior centers' aged leaders. The 6 meaning units are , , , , , . In addition, in the quantitative evaluation about the result, mean score of meaning units showed high average score more than 2.5 out of 3.0, it showed a credibility about the result of research. These outcomes are giving the insight of meaning of leadership at the point of view of senior leaders with their hands-on experience. With this result, we mentioned that we need to promote productive recreation programmes, human relations and communication skill training programmes and collaborative coordination skills at the level of community. Also, we suggest to assess the needs of leadership development among the elderly at senior centers and to take on the follow-up research into leadership scale development among Korean senior centers leaders.
