Acknowledging the fact that Luke-Acts were written with the progress of redemptive history in mind, this paper investigates how the temple or the image of the temple in Acts 2 is indicated throughout the progress of redemptive history. In general, it has been known that the Holy Spirit came to the apostolic community in the upper room of Mary, the mother of John, called Mark at Pentecost. However, this paper shows that the Holy Spirit came as the eschatological transformer to the apostolic community at the Temple building on the day of Pentecost. This paper also sheds light on the impact of the Holy Spirit coming to the Temple building has in redemptive history. The event of the Holy Spirit coming to the Temple on the day of Pentecost is very similar in nature when God came to Mount Sinai in the third month after the Israelites left Egypt. In the latter event, after descending to Mount Sinai, God makes the Tabernacle-the church in the wilderness-through Moses, who makes all the furnishings in accordance to the pattern God showed him at Mount Sinai. Likewise, after the Holy Spirit comes to the Temple building at Pentecost, God establishes a New Temple-the church in the New Testament period-by the Holy Spirit but through human beings. That is to say, the Holy Spirit transformed the Old Temple into the New at the Old. The fact that the Old Temple was transformed into the New Temple at the Old shows that when the Holy Spirit descended to the community of disciples, the community became a Temple-community with Jesus Christ as their Leader, naturally displacing the function or the meaning of the Old Temple on consecutive lines. However, for the Jewish Christians, these two Temples, Old and New, had existed together for a while. The Old Temple was obsolete and gradually vanished, but the New Temple grew and became stronger, continuing to this day. Thus, the period that the two Temples existed together ends in AD 70, the very day of Jerusalem's judgment from God. In this way, the New Temple accomplishes the task of completing the Old as the type.
