영문 초록

This study tests a social control theory and a conditioning effect of social bonding variables on cyber-crime across the perception of virtuality in cyber space. There are two contrasting hypotheses: the first hypothesis is that the effects of social bonding variables are high when the perception of virtuality is low; and the second hypothesis is that the effects of social bonding variables are high when the perception of virtuality is high. Using data from 762 university students in Seoul, 2012, results support the second hypothesis in that the effects of social bonding variables such as moral beliefs and commitment to scholastic activity are significant when the perception of virtuality is high. This results imply that those who have a high probability of cybercrime in their perception of virtuality are more likely to commit cybercrime when they are not controlled because their bonds are low, while they are controlled when they have high moral beliefs and commitment to scholastic activites.
