국문 초록

본 연구는 젠더노동에서 요구되며 제대로 평가되어 오지 못했던 "감정노동"에 대하여 고찰한다. 2010년 5월부터 2012년 4월까지 일본에서 행해진 청취조사와 참여관찰을 통하여, 감정노동의 직무와 개호종사자들이 감정노동을 어떻게 수행하며 인식하고 있는지를 살펴본다. 그 결과로서 개호노동에서의 감정노동의 직무는, 첫째, 인간관계 스킬의 중요성을 들 수 있다. 둘째, 신체개호에 앞서 이용자와의 커뮤니케이션을 통한 공감을 나누는 것이 중요한 직무이다. 셋째, 이용자들을 존중하며 그들의 자립지원을 돕는 이용자의 자립지원에 대한 책임이다. 마지막으로 개호종사자들의 감정적인 노력은 "표면행위"와 "심층행위"로 이루어지고 있다는 점을 알 수 있다. 마지막으로, 이러한 감정노동의 영향으로서, 개호종사자들에게 부정적 및 긍정적인 영향도 미칠 수 있기에 감정노동을 수행하는 개호종사자들의 감정에 대한 존중과 멘탈헬스에 대한 배려가 필요하다. 마지막으로 개호노동에 있어서의 감정노동을 재인식함으로써, 개호종사자들의 근로조건의 향상과 이용자들에게 제공될 서비스의 질의 향상에 이바지할 수 있기를 기대하는 바이다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on the concept of "emotional labor," which is mostly in demand as women's work and has not been properly appraised. The study examines the emotional content of care work and elucidates how care workers conduct emotional labor and how they perceive it. From May 2010 to April 2012, I interviewed 43 care workers and took part in participant observation at a day service center in Japan. Based on the results, the job contents of emotional labor are categorized by the following aspects: first is the importance of the human relation skills that are involved in care work. The second aspect is communication skill. Third is the responsibility for client well-being. The last aspect is the care worker's emotional effort. Care workers make use of "surface acting" and "deep acting" depending on the clients. Lastly, the outcomes of emotional labor can affect care workers both negatively and positively, thus it might negatively or positively affect the clients as well. Therefore, it is important to respect the workers' emotions and to consider their mental health. In the end, such an approach may lead not only to improvements of care workers' working conditions but also to an enhanced quality of care services for the elderly by care workers.
