대학생의 해외연수 참가동기와 연수환경에 대한 중요도-만족도 연구

국문 초록

연구목적: 많은 대학생들이 경쟁력과 차별성을 지닌 인재가 되기 위해 해외연수에 참가하고 있다. 그러나 대학생의 해외연수에 대한 실증적 연구는 매우 부족한 상황이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 해외연수 참가동기에 대한 척도를 개발하고 해외연수 전ㆍ후의 참가동기 및 연수환경에 대한 중요도-만족도간의 인식의 차이를 조사해 보고자 하였다. 연구 설계 및 방법론: 전문가 인터뷰와 문헌연구를 통해 해외연수 참가동기 문항 30개를 도출하고 이 문항을 해외연수 경험자와 경험예정자를 대상으로 설문을 실시하였다. 그 결과 5개요인 19개의 문항을 추출할 수 있었고 이를 토대로 해외연수 참가동기 및 연수환경에 대한 인식의 중요도-만족도를 분석하였다. 분석 및 연구 결과: 첫째, 대학생의 해외연수 참가동기는 다양한 경험, 외국어 능력 향상, 전공지식 습득, 외국어 능력 평가, 진로 및 취업 도움 등의 5개요인 19문항으로 조사되었다. 둘째, 대학생의 해외연수 참가동기에 대한 IP분석 결과 개선이 집중적으로 필요한 영역에는 외국인 친구들과의 교류, 외국어 능력 향상, 외국어 의사소통 능력 향상 등으로 나타났다. 셋째, 대학생의 해외연수 연수환경에 대한 IP분석 결과 연수국가 언어에 대한 기초능력 보유와 현지인들과의 교류가 개선이 집중적으로 필요한 영역으로 조사되었다. 시사점 및 연구의 한계점: 본 연구는 대학생의 해외연수 참가동기에 대한 문항을 개발하고 이를 토대로 대학생의 해외연수에 대한 실증적인 연구를 했다는 점에서 학술적 실무적 의의가 있다고 하겠다. 그러나 대학이 주관하는 해외연수에 참가한 대학생만을 조사 대상으로 했다는 한계점이 있다. 향후 연구방향: 본 연구의 한계점을 극복하여 다양한 주체가 주관하는 해외연수를 연구 조사하고 이를 토대로 대학생의 해외연수에 대한 실무적 자료를 마련하고자 한다. 공헌점: 대학생의 해외연수에 대한 실증적 연구는 해외연수 관련 기업이나 대학의 해외연수 관련자들이 해외연수 프로그램을 기획하고 전략을 세우기 위한 기초자료로 활용될 것이며, 이는 대학생들이 보다 성공적인 해외연수를 경험할 수 있는 토대가 될 것이다.

영문 초록

Purpose: Many university students have participated in study abroad programs to make themselves more competitive. At present, there is a lack of empirical studies on study abroad programs for university students. This study focuses on developing standardized factors and items for participatory motivations, and investigating students' perceived differences between the importance and performance of motivations and environments before and after participating in the programs. Design/methodology/approach: A list of 30 separate items was developed from reviewing relevant literature and interviewing experts in the field, and the questionnaires generated from these items were asked to the students. Based upon the 5 factors and 19 items derived from the questionnaires the importance and performance of participatory motivations and program environments were analyzed. Results/findings: The IP analyses show that the domains requiring the biggest improvements include association with foreign friends and the enhancement of foreign language proficiency and communication competencies. Research implications/limitations: This study suggested academical and practical implications by presenting standardized factors and items of participatory motivations for study abroad programs, and also for conducting an empirical study of the field. However, there are some limitations to this study which only investigated the known study abroad programs arranged by the universities. Future work/research: Future studies to conduct comprehensive and informative investigations that involves study abroad programs arranged by diverse organizations will be promising. Originality/value: This study provides an empirical basis for study abroad programs, and will be valuable as a resource to university parties, related enterprises and interested university students when they map out their strategies.
