중국인 유학생의 국내 대학 학습실태 및 학습태도에 관한 사례 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 국내 대학의 학부 학위과정에 재학 중인 중국인 유학생들의 학습실태를 살펴보고 학습태도에 영향을 미치는 변인들을 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 서울에 위치한 4년제 종합대학인 D 대학에 재학 중인 학생들로부터 수집된 253명의 설문 조사 자료를 분석하였다. 자료 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중국인 유학생의 91.7% 이상이 예․복습을 하고 있지만 한국어 실력 부족, 전공 공부의 어려움, 교수 및 한국 학생과의 상호작용 부족 등으로 인해 학습에 어려움을 겪고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 중국인 유학생의 학습태도에 영향을 미치는 요인은 ‘수업의 질’, ‘교수와의 상호작용’, ‘한국 학생과의 상호작용’, ‘학점’이었으며 이 변인들이 학습태도 변량의 47%를 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 학습태도 점수가 높은 집단일수록 수업의 질, 교수의 지도방식, 한국 학생의 도움, 외국인 지원프로그램에 만족하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 중국인을 비롯하여 국내 대학의 유학생 학습을 지원할 수 있는 방안 및 실천적 함의가 제시된다.

영문 초록

This study explored Chinese students' overseas learning experiences in South Korea, identifying facts related to learning behaviors and factors affecting their attitudes towards learning at a tertiary level education in South Korea. Data were drawn from a survey with 253 Chinese students who enrolled at D University in the Fall semester, 2011. The analyses of the data revealed the following. First, more than 91% of the Chinese students were preparing their classes and/or revisiting what they had learned; but they had a great deal of difficulties with learning due to the problems with the Korean language and with the understanding of the subject matter as well as the lack of communications with peer Korean students and professors. Secondly, a group of students who had positive learning attitudes were likely to be more satisfied with teaching methods, assistance from Korean students and support services provided by the University. Thirdly, the regression analysis showed that ‘the quality of lectures’, ‘interaction with professors’, ‘interaction with Korean students’, ‘grades’, and ‘Korean language aptitude’ were significant predictors of the learning attitude variable, explaining 47% of the variance. These results were discussed in order to improve learning environments of Chinese students who enrolled in a university in South Korea, along with practical considerations for supporting overseas students' learning as well.
