국문 초록

현재 한국은 빠르게 다문화사회로 진행하고 있다. 다문화사회에 대한 교육적 대응을 다문화교육이라고 한다. 다문화교육에 대한 개념 정의는 다양하지만, 공통적으로 차이와 다양성이 부각되는 21세기에 ‘나와 다른 차이를 보이는 타자와 어떻게 함께 살아갈 것인가,’ 또,‘문화적 배경의 차이에 상관없이 모두에게 공평한 교육을 어떻게 할 것인가’를 고민하는 인간과 문화에 대한 관점이요, 그렇게 교육하기 위한 교육에 대한 관점을 공유한다. 다문화교육의 실현을 위해 선결되어야 할 것은 다문화교육을 할 수 있는 교사교육이다. 그런데 현재 한국의 다문화교사교육은 이제 막 시작 단계에 있다. 따라서 다문화교사교육을 위해 무엇을 어떻게 가르칠 것인가에 대한 구체적인 논의와 실천이 이루어져야 할 것이다. 본고는 이런 문제의식을 가지고 한국에 비해 다문화교육과 다문화교사교육의 발전 단계를 갖고 있는 미국의 대학 내 다문화교사교육의 실제 사례를 살펴보고자 한다. 구체적으로 다문화교사교육 프로그램의 교육 목적, 교육내용과 교수방법, 평가 및 과제, 교재, 운영상의 특징을 분석할 것이다. 분석 결과를 토대로 한국의 다문화교사교육을 위한 시사점을 논의할 것이다.

영문 초록

Currently, Korea is becoming a multicultural society(MS) with rapidness. The educational corresponding to MS is called multicultural education. Although the conceptual definitions of ME vary, they have in common : How do I live with the others different from me? How do we give every students a fair and equal education chance regardless of their differences of cultural background? The MEs are a point of view for human and culture to consider these questions and a vision of education (toward educating students like those questions) in 21th century that differences and diversities are highlighted. The prerequisite to realization of ME must be how to teach teachers who are going to perform ME. The position of ME in Korea, however, is still in its beginning stages. Therefore, specific discussion and practice about what and how to teach them for ME should be made. As considering these kinds of problems describing above, the author would examine a multicultural teacher education class(program) of a university in the USA, which has more advanced stages in ME and Multicultural teacher education than those of Korea. Especially, educational purpose, contents, teaching methods, evaluation & assignments, text, and the features of organizing the class were analyzed. Based on these results of the analysis, the implications on multicultural teacher education in Korea would be discussed.
