국문 초록

본 연구는 성매매여성의 성매매 유입과 성매매 경험 당시, 탈성매매 과정에서 가족의 영향을 분석하는 데 초점을 둔 연구이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는, 첫째, 성매매를 경험한 여성들이 성매매에 유입되기 전 가족과의 관계에서 경험한 다양한 정서적인 측면과 그 경험이 성매매 유입에 어떠한 영향을 주었는지 알아보고, 둘째, 성매매 경험 당시와 탈성매매 과정에서 가족들에게 받은 영향을 분석해보았다. 연구결과, 가족은 성매매 유입 과정에도 영향을 미쳤을 뿐만 아니라, 성매매를 하는 동안이나 탈성매매 과정에 지속적으로 직접적, 간접적으로 영향을 준 것으로 나타났다. 일반적 예상과 달리, 성매매여성의 가족은 성매매를 막거나 탈성매매를 도와주기보다는 방임 혹은 성매매를 부추기는 경우도 있었다. 결론에서는 성매매를 경험한 여성의 가족에 대한 부정적인 경험을 해소하고 성공적으로 탈성매매를 할 수 있도록 지원하는 방안에 대한 정책적 제언을 포함하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of family on the process of entering, engaging in, and escaping from prostitution. First, this study analyzed the influence of various emotional aspects that the women who have experienced prostitution affected by their family relationships before engaging in prostitution. Second, it identified the influence of their families on the process of engaging in and escaping from prostitution. The results are as follows. First, the objects of this study experienced neglect, poverty, or sexual assault before entering prostitution. Most often, they had busy dual-income parents or experienced conflicts with their family members caused by the absence of caretakers or neglect due to parents’ divorce. Moreover, sexual abuse by family members led to difficulties in adapting to their home and poverty was the main factor caused some of them to quit their studies and seek a job. Second, the above mentioned conditions led the women to run away from home, thereby engaging in prostitution to make a living. In a few cases, some returned home, but they ran away from home for the same reason as the first time. In some other cases, even though they were found in a prostitution business by their family members, they were neglected again rather than being actively handled. Third, while their family members tacitly admitted that the women engage in prostitution, They did not aggressively deal with it in spite the women were trying to escape from that. Moreover some family instigated the women to engage in prostitution. Family have strong influence the women on the process of engaging in, and escaping from prostitution. Based on the results, the conclusion of this study made some suggestions on the relevant policies so that women who have engaged in prostitution can resolve the negative experiences and escape from the prostitution successfully.
