엘리트 남녀선수의 성폭력 피해 실태와 인식에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 엘리트 남녀선수의 스포츠 성폭력 피해 실태와 성폭력 문제에 대한 인식을 파악하기 위해서 17개 종목의 국가대표 선수 371명과 프로 선수 150명 총 521명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 최종적으로 분석 가능한 381명의 자료를 SPSS 15.0 프로그램을 활용하여 기술 분석과 χ²분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 간략하게 정리하면 다음과 같다. 엘리트 선수들의 성폭력 피해 경험률은 19.9%로 나타났고, 성폭력 행위별 피해 실태는 성추행과 강간보다는 대다수가 성희롱 피해 경험이 많은 것으로 나타났다. 성폭력 발생 시기는 휴식시간이나 개인시간에 가장 많이 발생하고, 발생 장소는 주로 훈련장소와 합숙소에서 발생하는 것으로 나타났다. 성폭력 가해자는 남성의 경우에는 동료 남성선수, 여성의 경우에는 남성코치와 남성감독인 경우가 많은 것으로 나타났고, 가해 빈도는 한 사람 또는 여러 사람에 의해 일회적으로 발생하는 경우가 많은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 엘리트 선수들은 성폭력 피해 시 대부분 소극적으로 대처하고 있는 것으로 나타났고, 이러한 성폭력의 문제가 표면적으로 잘 드러나지 않고 은폐되는 이유에 대해서는 지도자인 감독/코치 등이 보수/출전 등 전권을 지녀 선수들의 저항이 어렵고, 운동부 특성상 신체접촉이 잦아 성폭력이라 판단하기 어렵기 때문인 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 엘리트 선수들이 생각하는 성폭력 문제의 해결방안으로는 운동부 내 성폭력 가해자의 징계 기준을 마련하여 엄격히 집행하고, 선수와 지도자들에 대한 성폭력 예방교육이 시급한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 국가대표 및 프로 선수의 성폭력 피해 실태를 밝혀내고, 성폭력 문제와 해결방안에 대한 인식을 파악했다는 측면에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the actual condition of sexual harassment in male and female elite athletes, to survey the recognition of the problem about sexual harassment and to devise a plan for its solution. Thus, the study conducted a questionnaire survey targeting 381 national representative athletes and professional athletes in regard to 17 events individual events, interpersonal events, and team events. The results of this descriptive analysis and χ²analysis are as follows. First, the percentage of those experiencing sexual harassment damage was 19.9%. Second, as for the actual condition of victims by sexual harassment behavior, the majority indicated many experiences of sexual harassment, rather than sexual assault and rape. Third, sexual harassment was shown to have taken place most frequently during a rest period or private time. Fourth, the place where sexual harassment occurred was mainly in a training place and at a training camp. Fifth, sex assaulters were listed as generally male teammates for men, and male coaches and male directors who are leaders in the case of women. Sixth, the frequency of inflicting sexual harassment was shown to have happened once by one person or several people. Seventh, the majority said that they had coped passively given the sexual harassment damage. Eighth, the reason that a problem of sexual harassment was concealed was the difficulty for the athlete to resist because leaders(directors, coaches) have an exclusive right related to the athlete’s pay and participation in a match. Moreover, it was found to be difficult to judge if sexual harassment had actually occurred because body contact is frequent in light of characteristics of the athletic club. Finally, one solution to the problem of sexual harassment was reinforcement of public/legal punishment for assaulters and improvement of education system for leaders and athletes.
