검사 제한시간에 따른 검사속도성 영향

국문 초록

능력검사가 충분한 검사시간에 시행되지 않고 제한시간을 둘 때 검사속도성 현상이 출현한다. 본 연구의 목적은 이러한 검사속도성 현상이 심리측정학적 특성에 미치는 영향을 확인하는 것이다. 중학교 2학년생 3,405명을 대상으로 언어유추검사를 충분한 검사시간, 관대한 제한시간, 엄격한 제한시간 조건에서 시행하였다. 세 가지 검사 시간조건에 따른 검사특성 분석결과, 첫째, 고전검사이론으로 평가한 검사특성에서는 검사가 속도화 될 수록 문항난이도가 낮아지고 탐색적 요인분석 결과에서 속도요인이 출현하였다. 둘째, 문항반응이론으로 평가한 검사특성에서는 검사가 속도화될 수록 문항난이도와 문항변별도가 과대추정되고 문항특성곡선의 면적이 과소추정되며 검사특성곡선이 중간 능력대의 수검자 진점수를 과소추정하였다. 또한 제한 시간을 둔 검사조건에서 검사정보함수가 과대추정되고 단일차원성 가정이 기각되었다. 본 연구 결과는 검사속도성은 관대한 제한시간 조건에서도 검사의 심리측정학적 특성에 작지만 무시할 수 없는 영향을 미치고, 특히 이러한 영향은 검사 후반부의 쉬운 문항들에서 더 두드러지는 것을 확인해 주었다. 연구결과를 능력검사 제작과 시행에 주는 시사점을 중심으로 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to investigate the effects of test speededness on various psychometric properties of an achievement test. To accomplish the goal, a 50-item verbal analogy test was constructed and administered to three groups of middle school students. The three groups were tested under different time conditions, that is, almost no time-limit condition as in a power testing condition(PT), a generous time-limit condition(GT), and a strict time-limit condition(ST). To examine the effects of test speededness on the psychometric properties of the test, both classical test theory(CTT)-based and item response theory(IRT)-based analyses were conducted. In the CTT-based analyses, item difficulties were lowered in GT and ST tests compared to PT test. The result of the exploratory factor analysis revealed a secondary speeded factor in the GT and ST tests. The results of the IRT-based analysis revealed that, as the test time-limit got more restricted, a-parameter estimates and b-parameter estimates were overestimated toward the end of the test; the approximate values of area below ICCs were underestimated in the latter part of the test; TCCs were underestimated in GT and ST tests compared to PT test. TIFs of GT and ST tests were inflated compared to that of PT test. According to the result of DIMTEST analysis, the unidimensional assumption was satisfied in PT test, but not in GT and ST tests. The findings of the current study showed that the effects of test speededness were small but not negligible even in a generous time-limit condition(GT), in that test speededness resulted in overestimated b-parameter estimates for easy items located near the end of tests. Results were discussed in relations to implications for test construction and administration of ability tests in practice.
