영문 초록

Generally spending, many linguistists have insisted that the relationship between a phonetic signal and its meaning is arbitrary. But I suggest as an experimental case the fact that such words as the onomatopoeia must be included in a grammar where we treat them with reason and consistency. There are a number of words which have their non-arbitrary relationships between the sound and meaning as far as I know. I suppose that the sound structure consists of a universal part and language specific one, and that the universal one makes the basis. We come to find that this basic property reflects itself to all phonological levels. A ‘phonosphare’ is introduced only to explain the phenomena with more ease. The reason why I tried to make discussion on the lexicon which is supposed to exist in the conceptual space of a human, is to consider that by understanding a linguistic competence we can have a basic and organic linguistic knowledge and approach to the linguistic study in a reasonable and convenient way. The conceptual space and a lexicon are treated in a psycholinguistic approach. The words which belong to the level one seem to make the fundamental ground because they go up to the level two with their features. When the words move up to another level, they do not change on a large scale but only have inflexions on a small scale. We can find that they are inflexions proceeding in accordance with one of the most familiar rules to the human conceptual space.
