The purpose of this study is to develop Creativity Personality Scale for measuring Korean elementary school children’s creativity personality and to validate the instrument. To achieve this purpose, 165 fourth(male 40, female 42) and fifth(male 44, female 39) elementary school children were sampled in Seoul. Creativity Personality Scale was administered to them. In 1 week after the subjects completed the Creativity Personality Scale, three criteria for validating this scale were examined separately. The criteria were creativity ratings of a short drawing, GIFT, and ratings by professionals of the creativity of students’ works in their individual extracurricular activity. To increase stability, the two criteria(creativity ratings of a short drawing, ratings of the creativity of students’ works in their individual extracurricular activity) were combined into a single criterion for validation. The collected data were analyzed by factor analysis, simple correlation, and T-test. The major findings were as follows: Firstly, when the GIFT score was used as a criterion for validation, the validity of the CPS was highly significant. But when the creativity ratings score of a common task(short drawing) and the creativity ratings score of domain-specific work(individual extracurricular activity) were used respectively as a criterion for validation, the validity of the CPS was not significant. Secondly, in cross-validation the CPS discriminated significantly the levels of children’s creativity which was determined by GIFT score and the creativity rating score of domain-specific work(individual extracurricular activity) respectively. In conclusion, the CPS developed by author was favorably reliable and valid as the measure of children’s creativity. But more adequate and reliable criterion should be applied in the further study of validating the CPS with a large number of samples.
