영문 초록

Tea is often used as an edible or medicinal material or in rituals due to its special effects. Today, many people enjoy tea, and it has become a daily beverage. Tea drinking has a long history in Korea, dating back to the reign of Queen Seondeok during the Silla Kingdom (632-647 AD), according to historical records. Tea seeds arrived from Tang (唐) were planted in Gyeongsang and Jeolla provinces and then expanded gradually. The name of the tea is a reflection of its quality and taste. An example is Zukrocha (竹露茶, which was enjoyed as a fine tea by the royal family during the Joseon Dynasty. Bamboo and tea were favorites among ancient scholars, poets, calligraphers, and painters. It is obvious that teaand a classical scholar’s culture are inseparable. In the past, scholars planted bamboo around their houses in an effort to take after its high character. Scholars also enjoyed eating Zukrocha from the bamboo grove. For our ancestors, drinking a cup of tea meant maintaining their mental culture. Zukrocha has been accepted as the finest tea for this purpose. The name Zukrocha reflects Korea’s noble spirit.
