단순언어장애아동의 낱말 의미구조화 특성

국문 초록

낱말 의미구조화는 아동들이 낱말을 습득하고 그 의미를 확장해 가는 것과 밀접한 관계를 갖는다. 본 연구는 단순언어장애(이하 SLI)아동의 낱말 의미구조화 특성이 일반아동들과 차이가 있는가를 통해 이 아동들의 낱말습득 특성을 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 언어연령이 4;6-6;6세 사이의 SLI 아동 10명과 SLI 아동과 언어능력을 일치시킨 일반아동 10명 그리고 생활연령을 일치시킨 일반아동 10명, 총 30명의 아동으로 하였다. 실험과제는 Waxman & Hatch(1992)와 McGregor & Waxman(1998)이 사용한 대조질문(contrast question) 형식의 과제를 사용하였으며, 전체 과제에서의 정확도 및 질문의 의미범주에 따른 정확도를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, SLI 집단은 생활연령 통제집단에 비해 유의하게 낮은 수행결과를 나타냈으며, 언어능력 일치집단에 비해서도 저조한 수행결과를 나타냈다. 또한 질문의 의미범주에 따라서는 세 집단아동들 모두 기능적 범주에서 높은 수행결과를 보였으며, SLI 아동이 기능적 범주에서 다른 두 통제집단에 비해 유의하게 낮은 수행을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 SLI 집단의 낱말산출 및 습득에서의 문제와 관련하여 논의하였다.

영문 초록

Semantic organization of words is closely related with word acquisition and use. The present study was designed to compare semantic organization of words between children with specific language impairment and normal children. Thirty children participated in this study: 10 with specific language impairment(SLI group) whose language ages were 4;6 - 6;6, 10 normal children chronological-age matched(CA controls) and 10 normal children language-age matched with the SLI children(LA controls). All participants were asked to respond to contrast questions consisting of 4 types of semantic categories: functional, physical, locative, and categorical. The principal findings of the study were as follows. (1) The performance of the SLI group was significantly lower than the CA controls, and they also performed poorer than the LA controls. (2) The SLI group revealed significantly lower performance in the functional category than the other two control groups and the CA controls significantly higher performance in the physical category than the other two groups. The study results were discussed in terms of the relationships between the semantic organization and word acquisition and production.
