언어발달지체아동과 정상아동의 보통명사 정의하기 능력 비교

국문 초록

본 연구는 아동들이 보통명사를 말로 정의할 때 언어지체 유무에 따라 (1) 정의정확도, (2) 정의유형의 출현빈도, 그리고 (3) 검사낱말 범주에 따른 정의유형 간 출현율에 차이가 나는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 어휘연령을 5세로 일치시킨 언어발달지체아동과 정상아동 각 17명씩, 총 34명이었다. 검사낱말은 7개 낱말범주(동물, 교통기관, 음식, 도구, 의류, 장난감 및 가전제품)에 속하는 보통명사 21개로 각 범주마다 3개씩 선정하였고 정의유형은 기능적, 관계적, 물리적, 그리고 분류적 정의로 나누었다. 자료는 t 검정과 출현율을 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과, (1) 언어지체 유무에 따라 정의의 정확도는 유의하게 차이가 있었으며, (2) 정상아동은 언어발달지체아동보다 정의유형들 중에서 기능적 정의를 유의하게 더 많이 산출하였으나 두 집단 간 정의유형의 사용빈도 순위는 기능적, 관계적, 물리적, 분류적 정의의 순서로 동일하였다. 또한 (3) 검사낱말범주에 따른 정의유형의 출현율 순위는 언어지체와 상관없이 동일하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the differences in the Korean verbal definitions of concrete nouns between normal children and the language- delayed children who were vocabulary - age matched. The experimental groups were 17 language- delayed children and 17 normal children . T wenty - one concrete nouns , 3 for each of the 7 classes of words - - animals , transportation, means, foods, tools, clothes, toy s, and electrical appliances - -were used to elicit the children s verbal definitions . Four definitional categories were studied: functional, relational, perceptual, and categorical. T he result s were analyzed with t- test s. T he following conclusions were obtained: (1) significant differ - ences were found between the group of language- delayed children and the normal children , (2) the frequencies of definition were found to be in the order of functional definition , relational definition , perceptual definition, and categorical definition , and (3) the same order of the frequencies ratios of definition for the classes of words was found in the group of language- delayed children as that of the normal children.
