국문 초록

본 연구에서는 어린이가 초기 단어획득과정에서 보이는 의미분화 과정을 1;0-2;4세 어린이의 1년 4개월에 걸친 종단적 관찰자료를 이용하여 총 12개 단어를 처음 사용하게 된 상황부터 의미가 분화되어 가는 과정을 추적해 보았다. 연구결과, 첫째, 분석대상 단어들이 초기 산출 이후 과잉확장 또는 과잉축소를 거쳐 여러 의미로의 의미분화과정을 거치며 발달하였고, 이는 발달적으로 기술이 가능하였다. 둘째, 분석대상 단어들은 의미발달과정에서 상황적 표현과 분류적 표현으로 묶여질 수 있었다. 특히, 첫 단어의 산출 이후 단어의 의미분화과정을 통사적 기능인 명사와 동사로 나눌 수 있었으며, 이 과정에서 두 단어조합으로의 이행을 관찰할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 일련의 행동 각본이 포함된 도식적인 습득과정을 통해서 습득이 이뤄지는 단어 역시 관찰자료의 분석을 통해 발달적 추이를 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

In this study, we examined the meaning acquisition of 12 words in early language acquisition stage using longitudinal data. Data were collected as diary entries in addition to recording once a week from the age of 12 to 28 months(1;0 - 2;4 years) at the child’s home with the mother. First, we noticed that the Korean children were also extending the word beyond the adult word concept. Second, early acquisition of words in our data reflected the structure of the syntactic category as nouns and verbs. These results suggest that the verbs were gained within action script or event-based knowledge. In addition, the produced words were categorized by the situational expressions and the taxonomic expressions. Based on the finding of this study, we attempted to discuss the role of normal developmental milestones in early language intervention for children with language disorder.
