국문 초록

본 연구는 코스닥 기업공개시장에서 IT 기업들의 수요예측을 통한 공모가격 조정과 상장 후 초기수익률과의 관계를 분석하여 Benveniste & Spindt(1989)의 동태적 정보취득모형에 따른 부분조정현상의 존재 및 지속성을 실증하였다. 실증분석 결과, 수요예측 과정을 거쳐 최종공모가격이 기대공모가격보다 높게 설정된 공개기업이 최종공모가격이 기대공모가격보다 낮게 설정된 공개기업보다 초기수익률이 높게 나타나는 부분조정현상의 존재를 확인하였다. 또한 부분조정현상이 상장 이후 1년간 지속되고 있음을 발견하였다. 이러한 결과는 코스닥 기업공개시장에서 수요예측제도가 정보수집 및 보상이라는 관점에서 시장메커니즘으로서의 역할을 제대로 수행하고 있다는 것을 의미하며, 코스닥 기업공개시장의 효율성 제고의 목적을 달성하고 있다고 평가할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This paper examines the relationship between the revision of the offer price for IT firms during the book-building period and the subsequent underpricing in the KOSDAQ IPO market, based on the Benverniste and Spindt(1989)'s dynamic acquisition model, which predicts the existence and continuation of partial adjustment phenomenon. Empirical results identify that the issues, which have higher final offer prices than the expected offer prices, show greater underpricing than those of lower final offer prices. The results also clarify that there exists a partial adjustment phenomenon in the KOSDAQ IPO market, and the partial adjustment phenomenon continues for all the year following the IPOs. These findings imply that the current book-building system works as a proper mechanism in collecting and compensating for the pre-issuing information in the KOSDAQ IPO market, as well as improving the efficiency of IPO process in the KOSDAQ market.
