雁鴨池出土 碑片에 대하여

국문 초록

한국고대사 분야의 관련 사료가 지극히 빈약함은 다 아는 사실이다. 그를 극복하기 위한 방편의 하나로 연구자들은 기존의 사료를 면밀하게 분석하거나 때로는 歷史理論이나 比較史學的 방법을 활용하기도 한다. 그러면서 다른 한편 새로운 자료 출현을 학수고대한다. 현재로서는 새로운 내용을 담은 고대사 관련 史書의 출현은 여러 가지 사정상 기대하기 어려운 형편이고 보면 대체로 金石文이나 古文書가 주로 그 관심의 대상이 되어 왔다. 이와 같은 새로운 자료가 간혹 예기치 않은 곳에서 출현함으로써 한국고대사 연구자들을 흥분시키고 침체된 분야에 활기를 불러 넣기도 하였다. 과거 <丹陽新羅赤城碑>, <蔚珍鳳坪新羅碑>, <迎日冷水里新羅碑> 등은 그러한 사정을 여실히 보여 준다. 여기에서 다루고자 하는 雁鴨池 碑片의 자료는 그 내용이 방대하지 못하여 굵직한 금석문의 수준에는 미치지 못하지만 많은 연구를 통해 한국고대사 분야에 새로운 知見을 더해 주는 활력소 역할을 해 줄 수 있을 것으로 생각된다. 1975년 신라 왕도였던 慶州의 雁鴨池 발굴을 통해서 이 雁鴨池 비편이 발굴되었는데, 통일기의 수많은 생활용품과 함께 50여 점의 목간과 더불어 출토된 것 이었다. 비편은 처음 출토되었을 당시에 별 주목을 받지 못하였고 1978년 간행된 『雁鴨池 발굴조사보고서』에서도 비문의 판독이나 상태 등 분석이 거의 이루어 지지 않은 채 2매의 도판만이 게재되었다. 이후 이 비편이 학계에 보고되면서 <南山新城碑>7비로 명명되었는데, 이는 이미 널리 알려진 <南山新城碑>와 기재양식이 유사했기 때문이다. 그러나 몇몇 학자들에 의해 이의가 제기 되면서 이 비편을 <南山新城碑>의 하나이거나 아니면 <明活山城碑>의 하나로 추정하는 의견이 제시되었고 완전한 결론에 이르지 못하고 있다. 이 비편은 어느 비의 일부분으로 남아 있는 글자가 몇 자 되지 않아서 그 판단을 더욱 어렵게 하고 있다. 그 동안 서체를 통한 분석은 거의 이루어 지지 않았다. 기왕의 연구에 한 두 줄의 서체에 관한 언급이 있었을 뿐이다. 서체에 관한 분석을 통한 연구의 필요성이 요청되어 왔지만 그 동안 큰 주목을 받지 못한 비였기 때문에 거의 연구가 이루어 지지 못했던 것이다. 이 雁鴨池 碑片은 비록 글자 수는 많이 남아 있지 않지만 한국 고대 금석문에 나타나는 내용과 형식을 보여 주고 있어서 귀중한자료라 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Anapji(pond) was excavated through unearthing process held by Kyongju Investigetion Committie of historic place approximately for one year; from March 1975 until the same month in 1976. The historic remains dug out caught scholars’ attention. Particularly, it was an epochal event that for the very first time in Korea that a wooden pipe was unraveled. This fragment of the monument was found coincidentally from an Embankment, however did not caught much attention at that time. Without any explanations about the circumstances of the excavation of the illustration, it was merely displayed in the Reporte of Anapji(pond) Excavation Investigation. Because this fragment resembled the structure which was reported of the Monument of (Mountain Fortress), it was named as Monument 7 of (Mountain Fortress), thereafter. However, this was highly controversial within the scholars. Moreover, it was difficult to interpret since it was no more than just a small fragment with few words remaining. Research, up until now, was done through comparing and analyzing the contents on the fragment. This thesis will provide analysis of the penmanship based on the result induced by the researches and contribute to the interpretation of the fragment. It was considered, at the beginning of excavation, that this fragment is part of Monument of (Mountain Fortress); however it is now commonly viewed as a portion of Monument Commemorating Construction of that was founded in the year between 541 and 544. One of the evidences of this is because it was since year 561 that 之 started to appear on 干郡經緯that also appears in Daegu Monument commemorating build of defense bank with Inscription of Musul and Monument 9 of (Mountain Fortress). In this point of view, the estimation of the monument’s foundation should be reconsidered. This monument is less 'square-hand' writing than that of Monument Commemorating Construction of . In the case of 兮, it is considered less 'square-hand' writing when the bottom stroke is more curved. This monument should not be judged as Monument commemorating Construction of but should be named as a fragment found in Anapji(pond) or view it as a thoroughly different monument and wait until other monuments to be discovered
