국제결혼 경로별 부부권력과 부부관계 만족도

국문 초록

본 연구는 국제결혼의 경로에 따라 부부켠력 관계와 부부관계 만족도가 다른지 분석한다. 특히，국제결혼 중개업체를 통해 한국으로 이주한 국제이주 부인들이 다른 결혼경로를 통해 이주한 여성들보다 더 부정적인 부부관계를 경험하고 있는지 검증한다. 이를 위해 2006 년 경기가족여성개발원이 실시한 ‘경기도 내 결혼이민자가족에 대한 실태조사’ 결과 중에서 국제이주 부인 810 명과 한국인 남편 425명에 대한 조사자료를 사용하였다. 주요 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 국제결혼 중개업체를 통해 결혼한 부인들이 다른 경로의 부인들보다 더 남편주도적인 부부관계를 경험하고 있다- 이들의 학력 수준， 취업률， 한국어 구사 능력， 국적 취득， 한국에서 동원 가능한 지원망과 같은 인적 자원은 다른 경로의 부인들보다 상당히 취약하다. 설혹 이런 자원들을 보유하고 있더라도. 국제결혼 중개업체를 통해 결혼했던 부인들의 의사결정권은 다른 경로의 부인들보다 더 약하다. 부부관계 만족도， 이혼 고려， 남편으로부터의 폭력 경험은 결혼중개업체 주선의 결혼뿐만 아니라 종교단체 주선의 결혼에서도 부정적으로 나타난다. 이런 맥락에서， 국제결혼 중개업체나 종교단체가 주도하는 집단적이고 속성으로 진행된 결혼과정의 문제점과 이를 해결하기 위한 정책적 보완의 필요성을 지적한다.

영문 초록

This study explores the differences in marital power relations and marriage satisfaction by international marriage paths. Specifically, it empirically examines whether immigrant women, who have come to Korea throught international matchmaking brokers, experience more negative marital relationship than others. The Survey data conducted by Gyeonggido Family & Women’s Research Institute in 2006 was utilized. Major findings are as follows. First, the wives who are married through matchmaking service have less marital power than their counterparts. They are more vulnerable to husband's domination because they have less resources such as education, employment, Korean nationality and ability to speak Korean language. However, even when these resources are controlled, their decision-making power in the family are weaker than wives' from other marriage paths. Second, immigrant wives both through the commercial matchmaking brokers and religious matching service show lower marital quality than other ηpes of women, in terms of marital satisfaction, consideration of divorce, and marital violence. ln this context, the problems of these types of international marriages, which are characterized by the quick process group marriages, are discussed and the policy implications are suggested.
