우수아동과 일반아동의 다중지능, 선호놀이, 희망직업 비교 분석

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 일반아동과 우수아동의 다중지능 특성을 살펴보고, 그들이 다중지능 중에서 자신의 강점지능과 관련된 놀이와 직업을 선택하는가를 알아보는 것이다. 연구대상은 서울, 인천, 강원, 경기, 충남 등의 5개 지역의 초등학교 1학년~ 6학년 전체 1518명으로 우수아동 159명이었고, 일반아동 1359명으로 이었다. 연구도구는 희망직업과 선호 놀이를 묻는 조사지와, Shearer의 MIDAS-Kids를 한국에서 표준화한 다중지능 검사였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 우수아동이 일반아동에 비해 다중지능에서 높은 점수를 받는 경향이 있으며, 우수아동과 달리 일반아동의 경우에는 다중지능에서 지역차, 학년차가 존재하며, 성차에 있어서는 일부 차이가 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 우수아동들이 논리수학, 언어 관련 놀이를 선택하는 분포가 많았고, 일반아동이 우수아동보다 자신의 강점지능과 관련된 놀이를 더 많이 선택하는 경향이 있었다. 셋째, 우수아동과 일반아동이 희망하는 직업의 종류는 크게 다르지 않았으나, 희망직업별 특성으로 살펴보았을 때, 일반아동이 우수아동보다 자신의 강점지능과 관련된 직업을 희망하는 경향이 더 많았다. 이와 같은 경향이 그들의 훗날의 삶의 질과 어떤 관계를 보이는가는 추후 연구과제가 될 것이지만, 보다 더 자아를 실현하고 행복 한 삶을 위해서는 일반아동은 더욱 풍부한 지적 경험을 가질 필요가 있고, 우수아동들은 자신의 지적 특성에 적절한 직업과 놀이를 탐색해볼 경험을 더 많이 가져야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to compare the profile of multiple intelligences(MI) of excellent children with general children and to explore whether they prefer play activities and choose careers which are related with their strengths of MI or not. In this study, classroom teachers evaluated students and labeled the top two students "excellent" based on academic performance and behavior. For this study, 159 excellent children and 1359 general children from 1st grade to 6th grade were surveyed from elementary schools of Seoul, Incheon, Kangwon, Kyunggi and Chungnam in Korea. The measurement tools are as follows: Questionnaire to ask children of future career plans and their preferred play activities, and MIDAS-kids(Multiple Intelligences Development Assessment Scale for kids) standardized in Korea. The results of this study are as followings: First, excellent children had different MI profiles than those of general children. Compared to excellent children, the MI profiles of general children are affected more by size of the city, grade level, and gender. Second, excellent children preferred play activities related to linguistic and logical-mathematical intelligences regardless of their MI strengths. On the contrary, general children preferred play activities related to their own MI strengths. Last, excellent children did not have big differences from general children in their future career plans. However, compared with excellent children, general children tend to want to have future careers more related to their MI strengths. The relationship between these tendencies and the quality of the students' future needs to be explored in further studies. For the self-realization and fulfillment, excellent children need to be encouraged to pay more attention to their preferences and interests.
