Coombs의 관점으로 본 성희롱(sexual harassment) 사건에 대한 정치인의 위기 커뮤니케이션 전략

국문 초록

이 연구는 정치인의 성희롱 위기로 인한 진실성 회복과 사과주체의 평판타격을 극복하고 사과대상의 평판회복을 위해 효과적인 유형과 고려해야 할 요인을 제시하는 것이다. 이러한 목적을 위해 사과메시지 유형화와 코더들의 평가를 근거로 한 탐색적 반응분석과 공중을 대상으로한 확증적 반응분석을 실시하였다. Coombs의 관점에서 볼때 정치인의 성희롱은 직업과 관련되어 나타나는 책임성이 높은 범죄에 해당하며, 해당하는 대응전략은 수용의 정도가 높은 사과나 시정조치가 바람직하다. 그러나 선정된 59건의 보도기사를 분석한 결과, 성희롱사건 발생시 정치인의 위기 커뮤니케이션 메시지유형은 공격자 공격 13건,부정 10건,변명이 가장 많은 14건으로 비슷하게 나타났고, 3가지 전략유형이 전체 3분의2에 해당하였다. 즉, 공격이나 부정 등 위기사안에 대한 책임성을 낮추며 방어적인 전략으로 일관하고 있다. 실험연구 결과에 의하면, 사과대상인 정치인의 위기에 대한 메시지의 진실성을 높이기 위해서 성희롱 위기에 대한 현재와 같은 방어적 전략인 공격자 공격,부정,변명 등의 메시지 유형보다는 성희롱에 대한 도의적 책임을 인정하고 공중의 비난을 받아들이는 사과전략이 바람직하다. 또한 진실성에 대한 분석은 용이하나, 사과주체의 평판타격, 사과대상의 평판회복을 위해서는 메시지 전략 모두 위기의 해결에는 큰 도움이 되지않는다는 것을 알 수 있다. 이는 성희롱 위기 사안의 경우보다 다양한 PR전략이 필요하다는 것을 의미한다. 결론적으로 공중들은‘성희롱’을 정치인에 대한 책임의 정도가 높은 위기로 인식하며, 그러므로 성희롱에 대한 비난이 상대적으로 높다. 때문에 정치인들이 위기를 극복하고 이미지를 회복하기 위해서는 공중으로 하여금 사안에 대한 책임을지고 수용하는 것이 바람직하다.

영문 초록

AThis study seeks to suggest effective types and factors which has to be considered for minimizing damage to the apology subject's reputation, recovering the truth and restoring the apology target's reputation from crisis of politician's sexual harassment. On the purpose of it, I had the analysis of explorative responses based on the assessment of coders and categorization. I also used the confirmatory response analysis of the target to the public. Based on Coombs' Theory, politician's sexual harassment is one of the crisis types which requires quite strong responsibility related to a job. Highly acceptable apology and solution are the suitable response strategy. However, the results of 59 cases' analysis show 13 cases of attack the accuser type, 10 cases of denial type and 14 cases of excuse type which take two thirds of 59 cases. Most of politicians use the way to treat sexual harassment not as the fact but as the rumor and they are consistent the defense strategy to lower responsibility. Base on the result of study 2, the apology strategy which accept public blame and take responsibility about sexual harassment is more effective than defensive strategy such as attack the accuser, excuse and denial type to raise authenticity of message about the apology target, politician's crisis. All of the message strategies are helping not to get through the crisis for minimizing damage to the apology subject’s reputation and recovering the apology target’s reputation from sexual harassment but to analyze the authenticity. It seems to indicate that various PR methods are more necessary for solving sexual harassment than the publicities. On the conclusion, public consider politician's sexual harassment the crisis which required high responsibility of politician so a level of criticism is relatively high. To recover the image and overcome the crisis politician faces, it is desirable for politician to admit a fault and take responsibility of it.
