나이든 어머니가 경험하는 뇌성마비 장애 자녀 돌봄의 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 Colaizzi의 현상학적 방법을 활용하여 성인기 뇌성마비 장애 자녀를 돌보는 어머니들의 경험을 심층 분석하였다. 이를 통해 과거에서 현재에 이르기까지의 뇌성마비 자녀 돌봄의 전반적인 맥락 즉, 그들이 인식하는 장애자녀의 돌봄의 경험과 돌봄을 통한 삶의 의미를 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 현재 뇌성마비 자녀의 대학교 통학에 도우미 역할을 수행하는 등 뇌성마비 장애 자녀에 대한 전적인 돌봄 역할을 담당하는 65세 이상의 어머니 2명을 연구대상자로 선정하였다. 연구결과 연구 참여자들이 기술한 자료에서 나타난 의미 있는 진술은 63개 이었으며, 여기에 의미가 중복되는 진술을 제외하고 56개의 구성된 의미가 추출되었다. 이것은 19개의 주제로 유목화 되고, 5개로 범주화 되었다. 본 연구대상자인 노모의 돌봄 경험의 범주화는『당황과 포기』『, 가능성의 발견』『, 장애자녀와 자아의 일치됨』『, 노화와 사후걱정』『, 자아성찰』로 이해되었으며, 그 하위 주제는 당황과 두려움, 남편의 눈치봄, 포기, 양육의 책임감, 자녀의 고립, 인내심 발견, 학업능력 발견, 자랑스러움과 고마움, 자책감과 우울감, 자녀에 대한 존경심, 인생의 동반자, 다른 자녀들과의 갈등, 신체적 버거움, 결혼∙배우자에 대한 걱정, 자녀의 미래 거주 걱정, 종교의 힘 의지하기, 타인 시선 초월, 주위를 돌아 봄, 마음 다지기로 나타났다. 이상과 같이 과거에서 현재에 이르기까지의 뇌성마비 자녀 돌봄의 전반적인 맥락을 살펴봄은 뇌성마비 장애자녀를 돌보는 나이든 어머니들을 이해하고 이에 따른 서비스 접근 방법을 개발하는 기초자료가 될 것이다.

영문 초록

This study was to examine elderly mothers’experiences that they recognized in taking care of their adult cerebral palsy children and the meaning of their life through it. In order to figure out the overall logical connections in taking care of them from the past to the present, the elderly mothers’experiences were analysed by a Colazzi’s content analysis in phenomenological approach. The participants were two over 65 year old mothers who fully take care of their adult cerebral palsy children, even provide help in attending school for their children. The 56 out of 63 useful statements from the two participants were selected after deleting ones duplicated. The 56 statements were divided into 19 themes and 5 categories. The mothers’experience in taking care of their adult children were categorized into 『embarrassment & abandonment』, 『finding possibility』, 『being in accordance with children』, 『aging and worries about after death』, 『self-consciousness』.The subordinates were divided into‘ embarrassment & fear’, ‘reading husband’s face’, ‘abandonment’, ‘responsibility about raising children’, ‘isolation of their children’, ‘finding patience’, ‘finding educational ability’,‘pride and thanks’,‘self-condemnation & depression’ , ‘respecting their children’, ‘partnership’, ‘conflicts with other children’, ‘physical burden’, ‘worries about children’s marriage & spouses’, ‘worries about children’s future life’,‘depending on religions’,‘not caring about sympathetic looks’,‘ looking around’, and‘re-determination’ The result of this study in many approaches shown above, can be the basic data to improve and to activate the understanding the mothers who take care of their adult cerebral palsy children.
