영문 초록

As one of the closed attendants for the King, the tea room at the Goryeo dynasty served drinks as well as tea. As one of the closed attendants for the King, the tea room at the Goryeo dynasty served drinks as well as tea. These customs, serving drinks and tea at the tea room, had been continued until the early days of the Chosun dynasty. However, they divided the duties into two parts. Among the 6 Offices of Protocol at the Chosun dynasty, Ijo(吏曹) and Yejo(禮曹) had main responsibilities for the duties of serving tea. The tea rooms and food managements were belong to 이조(Ijo). Jeoneuigam(典醫監) and Hyemingook(惠民局) were belong to Yejo(禮曹). Jeoneuigam(典醫監) hosted the tea ceremonies for welcoming receptions for the diplomatic missions from neighborhood countries. Hyemingook(惠民局) was a nationwide government medical institution for common people. A Court pharmacist at the Goryeo dynasty, changed its name into Jeoneuigam(典醫監) or Taeeuiwon(太醫院) at the Chosun dynasty Both Taeeuiwon(太醫院) and Hyemingook(惠民局) hired medical servants who treating tea. The duties for tea at the Court were strictly divided. Taeeuiwon(太醫院) was the place making tea. And Jejo(提調) & Jegeo(提擧) served it to the King or the Prince. However, a provincial government medical institution sometimes performed the two jobs at the same time. One female servant could have responsibilities for serving tea as well as making tea when she greeted foreign envoys.
