‘효 문화 대중화’의 의미와 청소년 교정교육 방안에 관한 연구

국문 초록

  한국은 효 문화를 전통적으로 오랫동안 간직해오고 있다. 오늘날 이 효 문화를 보다 적극적으로 가르치고 소개하여 현대인이 효 의식을 가지고 이것을 삶의 기본적인 가치관으로 삼아 이상적인 인간관계를 형성해나감으로써 살기 좋은 사회를 형성해가는 것을 지향하는 운동이 일어나고 있다. 그런데 문제는 어떻게 효를 가르치고 삶에 적용할 수 있는가 하는 것이다. 달리 말해서, 효 문화의 대중화가 효율적으로 이루어질 때 효에 기초한 윤리의식이 이 사회에 형성될 수 있을 것이다.
  효 문화란 효 사상, 효 교육, 효 예절, 효 풍습 등을 비롯해서 정신문화와 물질문화를 모두 포함한다고 볼 수 있는데, 간단히 말해서, 부모공경의 가치를 소중히 여기며, 가정예절과 이웃에 대한 존중의 태도를 갖고 살아가는 것으로서 정신과 행동과 예술을 포함한 총체적 양식을 의미한다고 볼 수 있다. 문화를 이해하고 해석하는 방법은 여러 가지가 있는데, 현대의 효 문화는 좁은 의미에서 유행성 문화를 말하는 것이 아니라, 많은 사람들이 폭넓게 따를 수 있는 효의 규범이나 가치관을 제시하는 것이며, 고급이나 저급이나 상관없이 일반인 누구나 따를수 있는 문화로서 포스트모더니즘 시대의 다양성을 인정하는 가운데 사회적 변화와 발전에 부응하는 삶의 공존 방식을 제시하고 가르치는 것으로 제시될 필요가 있다.
  이러한 효 문화를 대중화하기 위해서는 연령과 계층 간에 의사소통과 더불어 효과적인 교육이 실행되어야 한다. 예를 들어서, 인터넷 세대를 고려하여 효 문화콘텐츠를 개발하고, 영상과 음향을 활용하여 스토리텔링 기법으로써 효의 내용과 방법들을 가르치고, 행동주의 원리에 입각한 효교육을 위해서 객관적 강화조건들을 형성하여 합리적인 효 문화를 이루어갈 수 있도록 한다. 그 구체적인 적용으로서 교정시설에 수감된 청소년을 위한 방법을 모색해보았다. 이들은 그 특수한 환경으로 인해서 비교적 효 문화의 수용과 교육 효과가 높을 것으로 예상된다.
  앞으로 신세대가 효 문화에 관심을 갖고 구체적으로 효를 실천해나가고 기성세대가 이에 부응하여 효교육에 힘쓰고, 효 의식으로 새롭게 형성된 화합 사회의 비전을 제시할 때 비로소 효 문화는 이 시대에 부합하는 한국의 대표적인 문화로서 그 역할을 다할 수 있으리라고 생각된다.

영문 초록

  Korea has been famous for its traditional Hyo (filial piety) culture. Nowadays some people have the perspectives that if Hyo culture is well educated to modern people, they might consciously regard Hyo as their moral values and have the vision of harmonious living-together on the basis of ideal human relationship. But, the question is how you can teach Hyo to be adapted to your daily life. In other words, successful popularization of Hyo culture would help to make the formation of moral consciousness based on Hyo thought - the ideal relationship of people.
  Hyo culture contains both spiritual culture and material culture including Hyo thought, Hyo education, Hyo proprieties, Hyo custom, etc. In short, Hyo culture is the holistic form of values, behavior and arts, and it is the lifestyle of loving and respecting family members and neighbors which comes from the values of honoring parents. There are several ways of understanding or interpreting cultures. We may define modern "Hyo culture" as the norms or values which can be accepted to people in general, not as pop culture in narrow sense of the word. Without the classification of its lower or higher levels, Hyo culture needs to be presented as a general culture which everyone needs and can take in. We could teach it as the lifestyle of harmonious coexistence according to social changes in postmodern era.
  For the goal of the popularization of Hyo culture, we need to start teaching for all age groups with the help of mutual communication. For example, developing the digital contents of Hyo culture for young netizens, telling Hyo stories with the help of visual and sound effects, and using behavior technology and operant conditioning of Hyo in schools and homes could help us to make Hyo culture reasonable and scientific. By applying to juvenile delinquents, the effectiveness of the methods was presented. As these young adults are confined in a special environment, easy acceptance of Hyo culture and effective Hyo education is expected.
  If the young generation become interested in Hyo culture and start to practice it, old generation would put forth their strength to teach Hyo and try to offer the vision of harmonious society for future generation. Then, Hyo culture could perform an active and central role for the present times and the commg years.
