중국의 외국어로서의 중국어교육에 대한 현황과 전망

국문 초록

  본 연구는 중국에서 이루어진 외국어로서의 중국어교육의 발전과정을 분석하여 우리나라 중국어 교육의 시금석을 삼고자 하는 목적으로 씌어졌다. 중국에서 중국어 교육은 중문과에 속하는 전통적인 중국어 교육 계열과 외국어로서의 중국어 교육 계열의 두 갈래로 양분된다. 중국에서 외국어로서의 중국어 교육은 대외한어교육, 제2언어로서의 중국어 교육 혹은 국제 중국이 교육이라는 명칭으로 불린다. 외국어로서의 중국어 교육은 1950년대 형성되어 1980년대 이후 크게 발전하였는데 이 시기의 특징은 하나의 새로운 학문 분과로 정착했다는 점과, ‘국가 대외한어교학 영도소조 판공실’이 결성되어 국가적 차원의 지원과 지도를 받았다는 점이다. 현재 중국 110여개 중점대학에 대외한어전공이 개설되어 있는데, 가장 영향력 있는 교육기관은 북경대학과 북경언문화대학이다. 양교 모두 석ㆍ박사 과정이 있고 각각 HSK, BCT 국가고사를 개발하여 명성이 높다. 양교 석사학위 교과과정 및 2007년 새롭게 확정한 “국제중국어교사표준”의 분석을 통해 외국어로서의 중국어교육 교사가 되기 위해서 “제2언어 습득론”과 “문화 상호 커뮤니케이션”에 대한 이해와 적용을 중시하며, 중국의 외국어로서의 중국어교육은 영어 TESOL의 방향을 따라 발전함을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 우리나라 중국어 교육도 외국어로서의 중국어 교육에 대한 접근이 필요함을 제안하였다. 최근 이화여대에서 개발한 “EPTeCSOL(Ewha-Peking Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages) 과정이 효과적인 중국어 교육의 한 모델이 될 것임을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

  The purpose of this research was to analyze how China established Chinese education as a foreign language and how this education system was developing. Through this analysis, Chinese language education in Korea can have better understanding of this education system and can use it as basis. In China, teaching Chinese as a foreign language is also called as Educating Chineseasa Second Language or The International Chinese Education for Foreigners.
  As the foreign language program, this program initiated in 1950’s and after 1980’s it began to accelerate its development. The significance of this period was that this foreign language began to settle down as its own separate educational program and it was also considered as ‘The Office of Chinese Language Council International’ and therefore, began to receive financial assistances from the government.
  Currently, about 110 universities around China have created this program ‘Teaching Chinese to Foreigners’. Among these universities, the most influential universities are Beijing University and Beijing Language and Culture University. Both Universities have bachelor and master programs and also they are wellknown for creating National Chinese Tests such as HSK and BCT.
  These universities’ master programs and newly structured 2007’s “Standards for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages” emphasizes how important it is for teachers who instruct Chinese to foreigners to understand and apply “Second Language Acquisition” and “Inter Cultural Communication”. As Chinese as a foreign language, Chinese education is improving as it follows the footstep of English TESOL.
  This trend implied that it is important for Chinese education in Korea to follow this new education system. Recently, Ewha University established EPTeCSOL(Ewha-Peking Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages), which visions the effective and standard teaching Chinese program in Korea in near future.
