일가(一家) 김용기(金容基)의 지역공동체 평생교육 사상에 관한 연구

국문 초록

  평생학습시대 및 지역화 시대의 도래와 더불어 지역공동체를 지향하는 평생교육의 중요성이 더욱 커지고 있다. 그러나 그 중요성에도 불구하고 지역공동체 평생교육에서 추구하는 지역공동체의 성격, 지역공동체를 형성하기 위한 평생교육의 유형과 실천 원리 등에 대한 심층적인 연구가 부족한 실정이다. 이와 관련하여 일가 김용기의 생애와 사상은 지역공동체 평생교육의 이해와 실천을 위한 의미있는 연구의 사례가 될 수 있다. 일가 김용기는 일제하 봉안이상촌 운동에서부터 가나안 농군학교의 설립에 이르기까지 전 생애에 걸쳐 지역공동체 형성을 위한 평생교육 사업을 지속적으로 펼쳐왔다. 일가 김용기가 추구했던 지역공동체는 보편적 인류애를 바탕으로 지역의 경제적 자립을 추구하는 생태적 공동체라 볼 수 있다. 그는 사회변화와 운영조직체계의 변화에 맞추어 지역공동체 평생교육의 방식을 적절하게 변용하였고, 그럼에도 내용과 방법 면에서 공동체적 가치를 지속적으로 강조하였다. 또한 지역공동체의 형성과 발전을 위해 전인교육적인 평생교육의 실시와 더불어 무형식적, 비형식적, 준형식적 평생교육을 총체적으로 활용하였다. 이와같은 김용기의 생애와 사상은 세계화 시대에 생태적, 자립적인 지역공동체를 추구하는 지역공동체 평생교육의 발전을 위해 매우 큰 의미를 가진다.

영문 초록

  Nowadays, the importance of local community lifelong education increased gradually through the advent of the age of lifelong learning and localization. However, the study is insufficient on the nature and conditions of local community which the local community lifelong educators must achieve, and the ways and action principles of local community lifelong education. But the life and thought of Ilga Kim, Yong-Gi give us many meaningful suggestions as to theory and practice of local community lifelong education. All his life, he tried local community lifelong education constantly from Bongan Ideal Village to Canaan Farmers" School. The local community which he tried was ecological, economically self-reliant and universal to all humankind. He transformed suitably the ways of local community lifelong education according to the needs of social change and the expansion of educational organization. But, the importance of the sense of community had been emphasized constantly in the aspects of contents and methods. And he used all kinds of formal, nonformal and informal approach synthetically. In the age of economic globalization, his thought will contribute to the development of local community lifelong education and the realization of ecological and self-reliant local community today.
