국문 초록

  본 연구는 최근에 우리 사회 여기저기서 들려오는 "샹그릴라 신드롬"에 관해서 고찰하여 보았다. ‘샹그릴라 신드롬’은 쉽게 말하자면 40ㆍ50대 아줌마가 20ㆍ30대처럼 보이고 싶어 하는 그러한 사회적인 열풍을 말하며, 본 연구에서는 무엇이 이를 결정해주는 원인변수이고 무엇이 결과변수인지를 실증적으로 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 40대 초반에서 60대 초반의 147명의 여성들을 설문하였으며 다음과 같은 사실을 실증하였다. 실제나이가 많아질수록 일반적으로 "샹그릴라 신드롬"이 높은 것으로 나왔고, 자신이 건강하다고 느낄수록, 활동적일수록, 자신의 삶에 만족할수록 "샹그릴라 신드롬"이 높은 것으로 나왔다. 그리고 "샹그릴라 신드롬"이 높은 사람들은 새로운 브랜드를 추구하는 경향이 높고, 더 적극적인 정보탐색 활동을 하며, 신중구매는 오히려 하지 않는다는 경향이 나타났다.

영문 초록

  The present research explores the antecedents and consequences of ‘Sangri-La Syndrome’ in Korea using difference age concept. ‘Sangri-La Syndrome’ here means a social phenomena for women in 40s and 50s to significantly discount their real chronological age and try to be looked younger than their age. In order to identify antecedent variables and consequences of the ‘Sangri-La Syndrome’ in Korea, 147 women were selected and personally interviewed in Seoul city. The result showed the higher tendency of ‘Sangri-La Syndrome’ for relatively older women. As women regard themselves more healthy, more active, and more satisfied in their lives, the higher level of ‘Sangri-La Syndrome’ could be observed. The result also revealed that those who had relatively high level of difference age (i. e, chronological age - cognitive age) tend to be associated with relatively high level of new brand trial, active level of information seeking, and less prudent shopping behaviors.
