「청구도범례」에 나타난 김정호의 고민과 희망 - 지도의 제작과 이용 및 교정 방법

국문 초록

  「청구도범례」에는 《청구도》제작에 바탕이 되었던 기존 지도의 문제점과 그 극복 방안, 지도의 필사와 이용 방법, 지도의 교정과 지지의 작성 방법 등이 자세하게 정리되어 있다. 이를 통해 우리는 김정호가 《청구도》를 제작하기까지 지도와 지지에 대해 얼마나 방대하고 체계적으로 연구했는지 알 수 있다. 또한 「청구도범례」의 내용에 대한 이번의 연구를 통해 기존의 연구에서는 잘 언급되지 않던 다음과 같은 점을 확인할 수 있었다. 첫째, 김정호는 《청구도》를 1개만 만든 것이 아니라 2-3개 이상을 만들었다. 현존하는 《청구도》의 사본이 최소 3개의 계통으로 나누어지는 것은 필사자들 때문이 아니라 김정호 자신이 그렇게 만들었기 때문으로 판단된다. 둘째, 김정호는 국가의 힘을 빌어 《청구도》를 교정하려 시도하였지만 결과론적으로 이루어지지 않았다. 《청구도》 이후 『동여도지』와 『여도비지』 등의 지지 편찬이 이어진 것으로 연구되고 있는 것은 《청구도》의 교정을 위한 위치 정보의 확보에 김정호가 얼마나 피나는 노력을 했는지 잘 보여준다.

영문 초록

  In Cheonggudobeomnye, the problem and solution of the existing maps which had been the base of producing Cheonggudo, transcript and usage of maps, revision and framing of maps and topography, and so on, are described in detail. Through it, we are able to see how extensively and systematically Jeongho Kim had studied about maps and topography up until he made Cheonggudo. In addition, through this research about the contents of Cheonggudobeomnye, the following matters, which had not usually been mentioned in existing studies, could be confirmεd. First of all, Jeongho Kim had not just made one Cneonggudo but made at least two or three of them The reason that extant copies of Cheonggudo is divided in at least three versions is considered not because of the transcribers, but because Jeongho Kim madε it that way himself. Secondly, Jeongho Kim tried to revise Cheonggudo with a help of the nation, but failed to do so in the end. Through the research which identifies that Jeongho Kim had compiled other topographies such as Dongyeodoji and Yeodobiji after the compilation of Cheonggudo, we can see how much effort Kim had put in ensuring location informations for the revision of Cheonggudo.
