숲과 자연환경에 대한 대학생들의 인식 수준

국문 초록

  교양선택 교과목 ‘숲과 인류생활’의 필요성을 검토하고 강의내용을 보다 합리적으로 결정하기 위하여, 대학생들이 숲의 가치, 자연환경 및 환경문제 등에 대하여 어느 정도 인식하고 있는가를 설문조사하였다. 숲은 울창한 여름 숲이 숲의 참 모습이며, 숲은 녹색이며, 숲에 가면 상쾌하고 고요하며 포근함을 느끼며, 숲이라면 깨끗한 계곡물과 통나무집, 휴양림 등이 가장 먼저 연상되는 것으로 나타났다 숲의 효용가치는 목재, 부산물, 방목지 등의 생물생산기능 보다 수자원함양, 자연환경의 보존 등의 기능이 보다 중요하다고 판단하였다. 스키장이나 골프장 건설을 위한 숲의 개발에는 대부분이 부정적인 의견을 보였다. 휴양림이나 삼림욕에 대하여 ‘알고 있다’와 ‘잘알고 있다’는 응답은 각각 28.0%와 39.8%로 비교적 낮은 편이었다. 삼림욕에 대한 이해는 응답자의 소속대학간에 통계적 유의차가 인정되었다. 휴양림과 삼림욕에 대하여 남학생이 여학생보다 상대적으로 이해하는 정도가 높은 것으로 나타났다 아직은 대학생들이 생태통로, 생물다양성 협약 및 기후변화 협약에 관한 관심도가 매우 낮았다. 생태통로와 생물다양성 협약의 항목에서는 대학간 유의차가 인정되었다. 세 가지 항목 모두에서 남학생이 여학생보다 상대적으로 이해하는 정도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과로 보아 숲의 가치와 자연환경의 훼손실태와 인류의 삶과의 관련성을 다루는 ‘숲과 인류생활’은 교양선택 교과목으로 필요하며, 자연환경과 관련된 세계적 최근동향을 보다 많이 다루는 것이 필요하다.

영문 초록

  To test the necessity and the contents of selective educational subject ‘Forest and Human Life’, undergraduate student"s recognition level on the forest value, natural environment and environmental problems was invetigated with a question paper. The forest is usually thought as dense-leaved summer forest, as green color. In the forest they are usually felt refresh, calm and comfortable. Associated with the forest, they usually remind clean stream water, log-house and recreation forest. The forest value of water reservation and nature conservation function is estimated higher than that of biological production function such as wood, byproducts and rangeland. Most students had negative opinion on the forestland development for ski slope or golf course construction. The answers ‘know’ and ‘know well’ on the recreation forest and green shower were relatively lower 28.0% and 39.8%, respectively. Significant difference on the green shower was proved between the answered students colleges. Recognition level on the recreation forest and green shower of male student was relatively higher than that of female student. Their recognition on ‘ecological corridor’, ‘Convention on Biological Diversity’ and ‘Convention on Climate Change’ was yet very lower level. Significant difference on ‘ecological corridor’ and ‘Convention on Biological Diversity’ was proved between the answered students" colleges. Recognition level on ‘ecological corridor’, ‘Convention on Biological Diversity’ and ‘Convention on Climate Change’ of male student was relatively higher than that of female student. From these results, selective educational subject ‘Forest and Human Life’, covered with the value of the forest, natural environment deterioration and its relationships on human life, was needed. In this subject, more worldwide updated trends related natural environment and human life must be introduced.
