국문 초록

  유비쿼터스는 눈에 보이지 않게 조금씩 우리의 생활에 스며들고 있다. 현재 정부, 기업측면에서 기술개발과 적용 등에 대한 연구와 시범사업들이 이루어지고 있으며 대부분 기술낙관적인 시각을 강조하고 있다. 그러나 소비자 측면에서 볼 때 유비쿼터스 사회의 위험에 대한 부분은 아직 많은 논의가 이루어지고 있지 않은 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 문헌고찰을 중심으로 하여 유비쿼터스 사회가 소비자에게 주는 함의를 고찰해 보았다. 유비쿼터스 사회가 소비자측면에 미칠 긍정적, 부정적 측면에 대하여 전망해 보고, 정부, 기업, 소비자측면에서의 새로운 역할과 대안을 도출하였다.
  유비쿼터스 환경에 대비하는데 있어 기술적, 정책적인 지속적 보완을 통하여 부정적인 측면을 최소화하는 노력을 해야 할 것이다. 소비자측면에서 볼 때 무엇보다도 개인정보보호와 이와 관련한 소비자의 신체 및 재산의 안전보호, 피해보상규정, 사업자측의 피해시 배상을 위한 재정확보, 입증책임의 전환과 관련된 부분의 개선이 필요할 것이다. 유비쿼터스 사회가 진전되어 갈수록 서비스 분야별, 소비자 보호 영역별로 다각적이고 심층적인 연구가 필요할 것이다.

영문 초록

  Ubiquitous trends have permeated into our daily lives increasingly. Government and companies have researched its technology and application, and have performed several projects. They mainly have emphasized positive sides from a technological viewpoint. However, the risky possibilities of ubiquitous society from the customer"s perspective haven"t yet be discussed sufficiently and further study in this side is necessary.
  The aim of this study is to search what meaningful implications ubiquitous society have on consumer. To do this, I referenced the several books related, relevant articles, some materials on Internet, etc.. Also, it predicted what optimistic and pessimistic effects ubiquitous society will have on all the aspects of the consumers, and derived some alternatives and new roles for the government, company, and consumer.
  We should make more efforts to minimize negative impacts through continual development of its technology and making of government policy in order to foster the suitable ubiquitous environment. Most of all from the customer’s viewpoint, the followings should be improved. Provisions regarding to the protection of personal information, consumer safety, damages, procuring financial resources of companies to compensate for damage, and change to liability to prove as damage has occurred. As the ubiquitous society became advanced, diverse and deep study in the consumer protection is needed.
