국문 초록

학생봉사횔동은 배움의 과정에 있는 학생들이 배움과 봉사를 접목하여 자완봉사활동을 펼치는 것으로, 봉사학습의 의미를 지닌다. 그런데 이러한 학생봉사활동이 교육과정 속에 이미 포함되어 있음에도 불구하고 아직 교육적 효과를 거두지 못하고 있다. 학교는 학생들의 봉사활동을 가장 용이하게 촉진할 수 있는 기관이다. 따라서 학상봉사활동의 활성화를 위해서는 학교가 중심적 위치에 서 있어야 하며, 그것은 바로 교사가 그 역할을 담당해야 한다는 것을 의미한다. 이 연구는 수도권 고등학교 교사를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시, 회수된 560부의 설문 응답지를 통해 학교중심 학생봉사활동에서 학생 봉사자를 지도하고 관리하는 교사의 역할 수행을 결정짓는 요인과 함께 장애요인을 밝혀내고, 이를 토대로 교사의 역할수행을 제고할 방안을 검토해 본 것이다. 본고에서는 분석 결과를 바탕으로 다음과 같은 방안을 제언하였다. 첫째, 전문 봉사활동 지도교사를 양성해야 한다. 둘째, 교육과 연수 기회를 확대해야 한다. 셋째, 사범대 교육과정에 자원봉사 관련 내용을 포함해야 한다. 넷째, 지도활동의 제반 여건을 마련해야 한다. 다섯째, 제도적 보상을 확대해야 한다. 학생봉사활동에 있어 봉사 후 일어나는 학생들의 변화야말로 교육적 효과를 그대로 담아내는 것이다. 학생들이 사회공동체의 일원으로서 바르게 성장할 수 입도록 학교가, 특히 교사가 이를 위한 역할을 제대로 감당할 때 이미 제도화되어 시행되고 있는 학생봉사활동은 더욱 활성화되고 교육적 효과를 거둘 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Student service activiries mean volunteer activities performed by students within the process of putting learning and service together. As a result, the volunteer work of students ultimately means service learning. Even though there are some schonls where service activity is included as a cnurse in the curriculum. few schools have shown its educational effects. School is thought to be one of the best places where student service activities can be promoted. In order to get the best out of student service activities, schonls must play a major role, and that means the teachers must play pivotal roles in student service activities. The purpnse of this research is to find out what specific obstacles teachers are facing when thcy carry out their roles as student service activity managers, and how to remove these obstacles and enhance their accomplishments, through surveying current teachers. According to the results of the analysis, there is a pressing need to enhance teachers' roles in student service activities, proactive policies should be implemented as outlined below. First, teachers should be trained professionally for student service activities. Second, the contents of service activity should be included in every kind of training program for teachers. Third, the service activity subject should be a required subject not only in the educational departments of universities, but also in other departments. Fourth, general circumstances should be facilitative for service activities. Last but not least, a compensation system tor teachers should be seriously considered: teachers engaged in voluntary activities should be given a lighter workload and proper rewards depending on their achievements. In conclusion, student service activicies can help revitalize communities and cure the ills of modern society, and as such they will become essential catalysts of the future. Student service activities are also meaningful in the sense that they can help students to grow into mature members of the community. With schools and teaehers playing their major roles. student service activities will finally burst into bloom and get the recognition they most certainly deserve.
