자원봉사조직 및 자원봉사자의 자원봉사 인정 · 보상 시행 경험에 관한 연구

국문 초록

  자원봉사영역의 내ㆍ외적 환경변화는 일선 자원봉사조직으로 하여금 자원봉사활동 관리업무의 중요성과 자원봉사 고유의 원칙을 지키기 위한 노력에 상당한 영향을 미쳤다. 이 두 가지 과제는 자원봉사 관리영역 중 특히 자원봉사 인정ㆍ보상에 집중되고 있다.
  본 연구는 자원봉사조직의 인정 보상 시행현황과 자원봉사자들의 인정ㆍ보상 수급경험을 조사함으로써 향후 자원봉사 인정 보상의 합리적 제도화를 위한 기초를 제시하기 위해 수행되었다.
  연구결과, 첫째, 자원봉사 인정ㆍ보상에 대한 목적과 개념의 고찰은 자원봉사실천 현장에서 혼돈을 일으키는 실비보상 등 유사개념과의 구분을 명확히 하는데 유의하였다. 둘째, 자원봉사조직들은 자원봉사 인정 보상시행을 위한 합리적 기준마련의 필요성에 상당히 공감하고 있었으며, 셋째, 자원봉사자들은 자원봉사 인정ㆍ보상의 경험을 통해 자아존중감 향상 및 자원봉사활동 지속에 도움을 받은 것으로 나타났다.
  본 연구에서는 조사결과를 바탕으로 자원봉사 인정ㆍ보상을 시행함에 있어 필요한 기본적인 원칙과 방향을 제안하고 있으며, 자원봉사 인정ㆍ보상의 다양한 유형 구분에 따른 적절한 기준에 대한 지침을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

  Recent changes in internal and external environment of volunteer field have greatly influenced efforts of volunteer organizations to keep principles and values of volunteering and volunteer management. The challenges are most intensely detected in the subject of recognition and reward of volunteer management.
  In order to suggest fundamental principles in making a practical and rational guideline on volunteer recognition and reward, this study investigated the practices of volunteer recognition and reward by the volunteer organizations and the experiences of recognition and reward by volunteers.
  A special attention was given to clarify the concepts and the purpose of volunteer recognition and reward and to distinguish them from compensation and other analogous names which frequently cause confusions. Results show that although most of the volunteer organizations recognize and reward volunteers in order to retain volunteers rather than increase the value of volunteering, they agree to the need of a rational and practical standard guideline on volunteer recognition and reward. Volunteers, given any type of recognition or reward, pointed to enhanced self-esteem and continued participation as the benefits of recognition and reward.
  In this study, we classified various types of recognition and reward that are being arbitrarily practiced in organizations, and proposed basic principles and directions on implementing each type of volunteer recognition and reward based on our research findings.
