국문 초록

본 연구에서는 "한국노동패널조사" 자료를 이용하여 지역간 인구이동이 소득결정과 소득격차에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 것이 주 내용이다. 선택된 표본을 이주자와 비이주자로 구분하고, 이것을 토대로 제반 분석을 진행하였다. 먼저 Heckman type의 2단계 모형으로 이주결정함수와 소득결정함수를 동시에 추정하였다. 추정된 이주결정함수에 의하면 각 개인의 이주 여부는 인적자본 인구이동이론으로 잘 설명될 수 있었다. 그리고 소득결정함수에 의하면 비이주자의 선택확률변수 λ가 음의 값을 가지고 1% 수준에서 유의성이 있는 것으로 나타나, 같은 인적자본을 가지더라도 비이주자가 이주자에 비해 보다 낮은 소득을 얻는 것으로 나타났다. 대수소득격차를 개인속성의 차이에 의한 부분과 나머지 부분으로 분해하는 요인분해법에 의하여 이주가 지역간 소득격차에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 이 방법에 의하면 지역간 소득격차의 원인 중 개인속성 이외에 요인에 의한 부분이 이주자가 비이주자에 비해 큰 것으로 나타났다. 이것은 이주자가 비이주자에 비해 소득이 높은 것이 개인속성보다는 원래부터 존재하는 구조적인 지역격차에 의존한다는 것을 나타낸다. 이것은 지역간 인구이동이 지역간 소득격차를 보다 증가시키는 것을 의미한다.

영문 초록

This paper analyzes the impact of regional migration on income determination and income differentials by using 'Korea Labor and Income Panel Study' data. Overall analysis is based on the selected sample divided by migrants and non-migrants. First, by using Heckman-type two stage model, we simultaneously estimate migration determination function and income determination function. According to the estimated migration function, individual decision for migration can be well explained by migration model as human capital investment. According to income determination function, selectivity variable of non-migrants, λ, is negative with the significance level of 0.01. This means non-migrants have lower income than migrants do even though two groups have same level of human capital. Second, we analyze the impact of migration on inter-regional income differentials by using factor decomposition method which divides logarithmic income differentials into two parts, differentials due to personal characteristics and the other factors. This analysis shows that the impact of non-personal characteristics for migrants is greater than that for non-migrants, which means the existence of structural regional income differentials. Therefore we can say that regional migration intensifies inter-regional income differentials.
