영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to identify the level of self efficacy in people with epilepsy. The subject were 110 epilepsy patients who were being treated regularly at two of the hospitals located in Daegue. epilepsy self efficacy scale developed by DiIorio et al(I992) and translated by Park(I999) was used. The results of this study were as follows The average score for epilepsy self efficacy was 66.96+17.48(Mean+SD) The epilepsy self efficacy the respondents reported most often focused primarily on taking medications as ordered. The results show a moderately high self efficacy of elements of a healthy lifestyle such as eating regular meals and not drinking excessive amounts of alcohol. The respondents reported relatively low self efficacy of self monitoring technique such as writing down the number, type of seizure. They also responded low self efficacy of alternative strategies such as relaxation, breathing exercise as ways to control seizures. There were significant association between epilepsy self efficacy and sex(t=2.27, p=.0245), age(F=3.99, p= 0091), education(F=4.47, p=.0019), current employment status(F=3.99, p=.0205), payer for remedy(F=4.40, p= 0054), relaxation technique(t=3.02, p=.0029), frequency of seizures(F=2.73, p= 0218). The result of this study offered some suggestions for nursing interventions using self efficacy and includng an increase awareness of the teaching needs of persons with epilepsy.
