국문 초록

The study aims to develop a urban forest healing program for elderly with diabetes in community and evaluate its effectiveness. This study was a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Participants were 35 with elderly diabetes (18 in the experimental group and 17 in the control group). Physiological indicators (fasting blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, body fat mass, skeletal muscle mass), Socio-psychological indicators (depression, perceived health status, patient role performance, perceived social support) and life satisfaction between the experimental and control groups were measured before and after the program participation. Data collected from April 5 to June 16, 2023 by blood tests, body composition analyzer Inbody 430 and self reported survey. Data analyses involved a Chi-square test, Fisher’s exact test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Independent t-test, using SPSS/WIN 26.0 program. The were significant between group for perceived health status (t=2.20, p=0.035), performing patient role behaviors (t=2.88, p=0.007), life satisfaction (t=2.31, p=0.027). The urban forest healing program has shown to improve the perceived health status and patient role behaviors of elderly individuals with diabetes in the community, ultimately leading to an increase in life satisfaction. Therefore, the urban forest therapy program can be considered as an effective nursing intervention to enhance life satisfaction among elderly individuals with diabetes in the community. It is recommended to further explore the application of this program in various populations and healthcare settings.
