탈시설한 발달장애인의 자립생활과 거주시설 및 원가정 복귀 경험에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 거주시설에서 탈시설한 발달장애인이 자립생활 과정에서 직면하고 있는 어려움과 자립생활을 유지하지 못하고 거주시설 또는 원가정으로 복귀한 경험을 당사자 관점에서 심층적으로 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 발달장애인 당사자 5명을 대상으로 1:1 면담 하였으며 당사자 중심의 정책적, 실천적 함의를 모색하고자 했다. 연구방법은 질적 사례연구방법을 활용하여 자료수집 및 분석하였다. 연구참여자들의 탈시설 및 자립생활 경험은 4개의 주제가 도출되었다. 첫째, ‘주체가 아닌 타자가 되어 주어진 삶’, 둘째, ‘스스로 고기 잡아 살아가는 방법을 배움’, 셋째, ‘익숙치 않은 자유를 향한 불안한 비상(飛上)’, 넷째, ‘탈시설의 경계와 비경계 사이에 부유(浮游)하며 떠도는 삶’이다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 학문적, 실천적, 정책적 제언을 하였다.

영문 초록

This study explores in depth the difficulties that developmentally disabled people who have been released from residential facilities face in the process of living independently and the experiences of returning to residential facilities or homes of origin after being unable to maintain independent living from the perspective of those with developmental disabilities. Through this, we sought to explore policy and practical implications centered on people with developmental disabilities. The research method used qualitative case study methods to collect and analyze data. Four themes were derived from the research participants' experiences of deinstitutionalization and independent living. First, 'the life given as an other rather than a subject', second, 'learning how to live by catching fish on one's own', third, 'an uneasy flight toward unfamiliar freedom', fourth, 'the boundaries and rain of de-institutionalization' It is a life that floats between boundaries. Based on the results of this study, academic, practical, and policy recommendations were made.
