한국인 아빠의 ‘다문화아동 외가 방문 지원사업’ 참여 경험의 의미

국문 초록

본 연구는 외가방문 지원사업에 참여했던 다문화가정 한국인 아빠들의 경험의 의미를 심층적으로 살펴보고자 한 연구로, 2016-2018년에 외가방문 지원사업에 참여했던 11 가족의 부모 8명, 자녀 6명을 연구참여자로 선정하고, 심층면담을 통해 자료를 수집하고, 분석했다. 연구결과, 다문화가정의 한국인 아빠들이 가족들과 자녀의 외가를 방문했던 경험은 자녀의 외가 가족에 대한 이해 높이기, 자녀교육 주체로서의 역할을 인식하기, 가족의 범위를 넓히기의 의미가 있었던 것으로 나타났다. 자녀의 외가 가족에 대한 이해 높이기는 ‘자녀의 외가 문화를 이해하려 노력하기’와 ‘자녀의 외가에서 부인의 입장 이해하기’로, 자녀교육 주체로서의 역할을 인식하기는 ‘자녀에게 관심을 기울이기’와 ‘자녀 이중언어 교육의 필요성을 인식하고 실천하기’로, 가족의 범위 넓히기는 ‘부인의 가족을 나의 가족으로 받아들이기’와 ‘한국인 아빠들 간 연대 형성하기’로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 결혼이민자의 모국 방문 지원사업들이 다문화가정의 아빠 역할을 지원하고, 다문화적 정체성을 형성하는데 기여하는 방향으로 전개되어야 함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research was to explore the meaning of the experiences of Korean fathers who participated in the project of visiting their multicultural children’s maternal homes. The research participants were 8 parents and 6 children from 11 multicultural families, and in-depth interviews were conducted with them. The results of this research showed that Korean fathers’ experiences were related to raise understanding of children's maternal homes family, recognize their role of childhood education as a main agents, and expand the scope of family. Raising an understanding of a child's maternal homes family included ‘trying to understand the child's maternal home’s culture,’ and ‘understanding the wife's position.’ Recognizing their role of childhood education as a main agents included ‘pay attention to his child’, and ‘recognizing and practicing the need for a child's bilingual education.’ Expanding the scope of family included ‘accepting wife's family like his family members’ and ‘forming Korean father's solidarity.’ The results of this research suggest that the project of supporting Korean fathers’ visit to maternal homes of multicultural children should contribute to support the role of father of multicultural families and to form multicultural identity.
