다문화 멘토링 프로그램에 참가한 대학생 멘토 연구: 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 이용하여

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 다문화 아동 멘토링 프로그램에 참가한 대학생 멘토들을 대상으로 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 실시하여 멘토들이 다문화 멘토링 프로그램에 참여 하면서 멘티와의 관계양상과 다문화 인식의 변화를 알아보고자 하는 것이다. 총 11명을 대상으로 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 했으며, 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 멘토들은 처음 멘티와 관계 맺기를 할 때 스킨십 및 신체적 접촉으로 신뢰를 쌓았다. 하지만 멘토링 하는 도중에는 적절한 멘토-멘티 관계 확립, 멘티부모 관계, 종결 방법에 대한 어려움을 경험하였다. 둘째, 멘토-멘티 관계 뿐 아니라 멘티부모와의 관계가 성공적 멘토링의 중요한 요소임을 밝혔다. 셋째, 다문화 멘토링 프로그램을 통해 멘토들은 다문화 가정에 대한 고정관념 및 편견이 감소하였다. 더 나아가 다문화 사회 정책 및 주변 다문화 현상에 관심을 갖게 되었다. 이러한 결과들을 토대로 향후 성공적이며 효과적인 다문화 멘토링 프로그램을 위한 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the mentor's relationship with the mentee and multicultural perception involved in focus group interviews. For this study, the researcher conducted eleven mentoring interviews. This study summarizes the conclusions of this research. First, the mentors developed a relationship with their mentees through personal contact and outdoor activities at the start of the mentoring process. As the program progressed, the mentors experienced difficulty controlling the mentees, because of the vague role of mentors and mentees, and the difficulty of concluding the relationship between them. Second, a good relationship with the parents of the mentees was an important factor in making the multicultural mentoring program successful. Third, mentors decreased preconceptions about multicultural differences and increased their positive attitude toward multicultural contacts through multicultural mentoring programs. This study concludes with some implications for intervention in multicultural mentoring programs.
