신입생 미달 현상에 대한 인천 특성화고 교육주체 인식 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 중등직업교육을 담당하는 특성화고와 관련하여 최근 가장 큰 문제로 부각되고 있는 신입생 미달 현상에 대한 인천 특성화고 교육주체의 인식을 분석하고자 하였다. 이에 인천 소재 특성화고 6개교를 선정하였고, 해당 학교의 협조를 받아 교원, 학생, 학부모를 연구참여자로 선정하여 면담을 진행하였다. 면담 결과에 기반하여 본 연구의 결론을 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인천 특성화고 교육주체들은 전반적으로 특성화고 신입생 미달 현상을 인지하고 있었다. 둘째, 인천 특성화고 교육주체들은 특성화고 신입생 미달의 원인을 특성화고에 대한 기피 현상과 중학교에서의 성적 중심의 진학지도로 인식하고 있었다. 셋째, 인천 특성화고 교육주체들은 특성화고 신입생 미달에 대한 대응으로 학과 개편과 홍보활동 강화 방식을 취하고 있었다. 지방교육자치가 강화되는 추세에 비추어 보면, 본 연구는 향후 특성화고 신입생 미달 현상을 해결하기 위한 교육청 차원의 정책적 방안 탐색에 유의미한 기초자료가 될 것으로 생각된다.

영문 초록

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of educational subjects regarding the issue of a decline in the number of freshmen in Incheon Specialized High Schools, which has recently emerged as a major concern. Six specialized high schools in Incheon were selected for the research, and with the cooperation of the schools, teachers, students, and parents from the schools were selected as research participants and interviewed. The findings of this study are as follows. First, the educational subjects were generally aware of the shortage of new students in specialized high schools. Second, they identified a reluctance to enroll in specialized high schools and the lack of guidance in middle school as the reasons for the lack of freshmen. Third, the educational subjects employed strategies such as reorganizing the departments and strengthening promoting activities to address the problem. Considering the growing emphasis on strengthening local education autonomy, this study provides a significant foundation for exploring policy measures at the education office level to resolve the shortage of new students in specialized high schools in the future.
