대학생의 학업 저성취 원인과 극복 경험 분석: A대학 사례를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 A대학교 학업 저성취자 대상 학습지원 프로그램에 참여한 대학생의 학업 저성취 원인과 극복 방법, 학습 멘토 교수의 역할 분석을 통해 학업 저성취자를 위한 지원전략을 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 프로그램 참여 이후 3.0 이상의 학점을 받은 11명의 재학생과 3명의 학습 멘토 교수를 인터뷰하여 주제분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 학업 저성취의 원인은 ‘일과 학업 병행의 어려움’, ‘비대면 수업의 출석 관리 부족’, ‘학업에 대한 흥미 부족’, ‘교우관계 문제’가 도출되었다. 극복방법은 ‘학업에 대한 의지 확립’, ‘출석 관리에 대한 노력’, ‘친구의 도움’, ‘교수님과 조교의 도움’, ‘학습 전략 활용’이었다. 한편, 학습 멘토 교수는 ‘진로에 대한 조언’, ‘정서적 지지와 공감’, ‘친밀감 형성’, ‘모니터링’의 역할을 하였다. 연구 결과를 토대로 학업 저성취자 지원체제 마련을 위한 기초자료를 제공한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the experience and effectiveness of overcoming the low academic achievement of university students participating in A University's learning mentoring program. To this end, 11 students and 3 mentor professors who received 3.0 or higher credits in the next semester among the participants of the three semester programs from 2020 were interviewed to conduct thematic analysis. According to the results of the study, the causes for low academic achievement are ‘work-study parallel’, ‘lack of attendance management in non-face-to-face classes’, ‘lack of interest in studies’, and ‘friendship problems’. The ways to overcome this problem are ‘my will to study’, ‘attendance management’, ‘help from friends’, ‘help from professors and assistants’, and ‘utilization of learning strategies’. Meanwhile, the learning mentors supported ‘advice on career paths’, ‘emotional support and empathy’, ‘building intimacy’, and ‘monitoring’. The results of this study suggest that effective programs should be operated to support low achievers.
