초등 국어교과서 문학 영역 단원 편성 방식의 문제점과 개선 방안

국문 초록

우리나라 초등학교 국어 교과서는 여러 차례의 개정을 거쳐서 변화 발전해오고 있는데, 문학 영역의 편찬 방식에 대해서는 문학 교육 전공 학자들이 우려와 불만을 표명해온 지 오래 되었다. 이 논문에서는 2015교육과정기 국어 교과서의 문학 단원 편성 방식이 지닌 문제점을 살펴보고 그 개선 방안을 제시하였다. 교과서의 단원 편성 방식은 단순히 교수 학습 방식에만 영향을 끼치는 것이 아니라, 문학 교육의 본질에 영향을 끼친다. 문제점과 개선 방안을 살펴보는 과정에서 미국 초등학교 국어 교과서를 참고하였는데, 미국의 교과서는 문학 교육의 본질에 입각하여 문학 교육을 실시하고 있어서 우리 국어교육계에 시사하는 바가 크다. 우리나라의 교과서를 살펴본 결과 문학 작품을 읽고 이해하고 감상하고 인생을 깨달아가야 하는 수업이 언어 기능 영역의 수업 방식에 종속되어 작품을 제대로 맛보고 감동할 수 없게 되어 있어서 재미와 감동이 실종된 수업이 되고 있다. 문학을 문학답게 가르치려면, 목표만 강조하는 수업에서 벗어나야 한다. 제재를 선정할 때도 ‘목표 도달 가능성’이라는 기준보다 ‘문학적 우수성’이라는 기준이 먼저 고려되어야 한다. 문학 단원에서는 ‘작품 중심’으로 단원을 구성해야 하고, 부득이하게 목표 중심 단원 편성 방식을 벗어날 수 없다면, 목표에서 좀 벗어난 학습활동이라 하더라도 작품의 이해와 감상, 내면화에 필요한 활동을 융통성 있게 포함시켜서 문학 교육의 본질적 목적에 합당한 수업을 할 수 있도록 구성해야 한다.

영문 초록

Korean language textbooks in elementary schools in Korea have been changed and developed through several revisions, and it has been a long time since scholars majoring in literature education have expressed concerns and complaints about the compilation method of the literary field. In this paper, the problems of the method of organizing literary units in Korean language textbooks during the 2015 curriculum period were examined and improvement measures were proposed. The method of organizing units in textbooks does not just affect the teaching and learning method, but also affects the nature of literature education. In the process of looking at problems and improvement measures, we referred to Korean language textbooks in elementary schools in the United States, and American textbooks provide literary education based on the nature of literary education, which has great implications for the Korean language education community. As a result of examining Korean textbooks, the class that requires reading, understanding, appreciating, and realizing life is dependent on the teaching method in the field of language function, making it a class that is missing fun and emotion. To teach literature like literature, you have to move away from classes that emphasize only goals. When selecting sanctions, the standard of "literary excellence" should be considered first rather than the standard of "the possibility of reaching the goal." Literature units should be organized in a "work-oriented" way, and if they cannot inevitably deviate from the goal-oriented unit organization method, they should flexibly include activities necessary for understanding, appreciation, and internalization of works.
