장상호의 교육본위론에 나타난 몇 가지 쟁점 분석

국문 초록

교육을 개인이나 사회가 설정한 목적 달성의 수단․기능으로 간주하는 제1기 교육학의 문제점을 지적하면서 삶의 자율적인 한 양상으로서 교육 그 자체를 탐구하는 장상호의 교육본위론이 출현한 지 상당한 시간이 흘렀다. 그럼에도 불구하고 교육본위론에 대한 비판적 논의는 좀처럼 찾아보기가 쉽지 않다. 이 글에서 필자는 장상호의 교육본위론이 갖는 몇 가지 문제에 대해 비판적 논의를 전개하였다. 첫째, 교육활동을 하면서 겪는 하나의 체험을 교육가치와 수도가치 체험으로 구분하는 것이 적절한가? 둘째, 교육본위론이 전제하는 수도계에는 단선적 품위위계성이 존재한다는 가정이 타당한가? 셋째, 장상호의 수도계론에서 품위는 재생 가능한가? 동일성에 기반하여 일반성을 추구하는 사유체계에서는 이런 질문들에 대한 답이 대체로 긍정적이다. 그러나 차이와 타자성에 기반하여 차이생성을 강조하는 사유체계에서는 위에 제시된 세 가지 질문들에 대한 답이 대체로 부정적이다. 이 글에서 우리는 둘 중 어느 하나만을 배타적으로 긍정하는 Either-Or의 사고방식에서 벗어나 교육본위론의 안과 밖 사이의 경계를 가로지르는 독특한 형태의 Both-And의 사고방식 즉 이접적 종합의 사유를 통해 장상호의 교육본위론을 한 단계 더 발전시켜 나갈 필요가 있음을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

It has been a long time since Sang-ho Jang's theory of educative frame, which explores the field of education from an endogenous perspective, pointing out the problems of the first-generation study of education that regards education as a means and/or function related to the achievement of goals set by individuals or society. Nevertheless it is difficult to find critical discourse on his theory of educative frame even now. In this article, I critically analyzed Sang-ho Jang's theory of educative frame. This study mainly deals with three issues. First, is it appropriate to distinguish the intrinsic value of education/pedagogy from the value of educational subject-matter called soo-do-gye's transtalent, both of which the learning agent experiences in an unseparated and indistinguishable state at the same time? Second, is it reasonable to assume that there is only one hierarchy of transtalents in each educational subject-matter called soo-do-gye, which is in symbiotic relationship with education in educational epistemology? Third, can the transtalent of educational subject-matter called soo-do-gye be reproduced? In modern way of thought that pursues generality through analytical, abstract, and conceptual way of thinking, answers to these questions are generally positive. However, answers to these questions seem quite negative from the perspective of the post-modern way of thought where we try to understand things or humans as inseparable from the entangled and interlocking web of everything-in-the-world. In this article, I suggest that Sang-ho Jang's theory of educative frame needs to be further developed through the synthesis of both immanent and transcendental critique, called disjunctive synthesis.
