영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the ways in which relations among Korean middle-school students interpersonal relationships, peer bullying, and social support affected the degree of social anxiety they experienced. The subjects were 594 adolescents (288 males, 306 females) recruited from five middle schools located in Seoul. The instruments used in the study included the Social Anxiety Scale(Moon, & Oh, 2002), the Revised Adult Attachment Scale(Collins, & Read, 1990), Bully/Victim Questionnaire and Junior Questionnaire (Olweus, 1991, 1993 respectively), and the Social Support Scale(Han, 1995). The data were analyzed with the descriptive statistics and the multiple regression. The results of this study were as follows: First, the dependency and the closeness they experience in the interpersonal relationships were a little higher than the moderate degree whereas the anxiety they encountered was significantly lower. The actual victimization of peer bullying was rarely found. Secondly, the closeness reduced the social anxiety level. However, the anxiousness and the experiences of being bullied increased the social anxiety level. The tendency to be anxious out-rated the closeness and then the infliction of peer bullying in influencing the social anxiety level.
