장애인 내담자를 대상으로 한 심리 상담과 상담자에게 필요한 역량에 관한 전문가의 인식

국문 초록

본 연구는 장애인 내담자에게 효과적인 상담을 제공하기 위한 방안을 탐구하기 위하여 장애인 상담과 상담자의 역량에 대한 전문가들의 인식을 조사하였다. 연구 참여자는 장애인 내담자를 상담한 경력이 풍부한 전문가 3명이며 일대일 심층 면담을 통해 녹취록을 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 유사한 내용을 묶어서 범주화하는 반복적 비교분석 방법을 통해 분석되었다. 자료는 내담자가 호소하는 문제, 이론적 지향, 상담의 효과요인, 적절한 상담의 목표, 상담자의 역할에 대한 영역별로 장애인 상담에 대한 인식이 범주화되었으며 효과적인 상담을 수행하는 데에 필요한 지식과 태도, 기술에 관한 인식 영역이 범주화되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 장애인 상담이 재활 상담과 분명한 차이가 있으며 장애인 내담자를 상담할 때에도 일반 상담자에게 요구되는 역량과 전문가로서 태도를 갖추는 것이 우선되어야 한다는 것을 보여준다. 그리고 더 나아가 장애의 유형과 특성, 문화에 대한 지식을 학습하고, 장애인에 대한 상담자의 수용적이고 인정하는 태도를 갖추어야 한다고 강조한다. 결론으로 본 연구자는 장애인 상담 분야가 재활 상담과 별개로 상담학의 하위 영역으로 자리 잡을 수 있는 독자성을 가지고 있다고 보며 이러한 관점을 토대로 향후 연구와 임상적 시사점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study examined the experts’ perceptions of counseling for clients with disabilities (CCD) and counselors’ competence, with the goal of identifying effective counseling strategies for the clients. Three experts in CCD participated in one-on-one in-depth interviews. The experts’ perceptions of CCD and counselors’ competence necessary for CCD were analyzed using a constant comparison method. Analyses resulted in five categories related to CCD: (a) clients’ presenting concerns, (b) theoretical orientation, (c) therapeutic factors of effective CCD , (d) appropriate counseling goals, and (e) roles of counselors. Three categories related to the counselors’ competence were also revealed: (a) knowledge, (b) attitude, and (c) skills. The findings of this study indicate that CCD differs from rehabilitation counseling and that counselors should develop general counseling competence and professional attitude when working with clients with disabilities. The findings also highlight that counselors aspire to continuously further understanding to different types and characteristics of disabilities and disability culture and to cultivate the attitude of acceptance and empathy toward clients with disabilities.
