노인 운전자의 인지장애 경험 여부와 안전의식에 관한 연구

국문 초록

연구목적 : 본 연구는 한국 노인 운전자의 인지장애 경험 여부에 따른 안전의식의 차이를 알아보고 지속적으로 증가하고 있는 노인운전자의 교통사고 감소 및 예방을 위한 정책방향을 수립하는데 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 연구방법 : 본 연구는 질병관리본부가 매년 실시하는 지역사회건강조사에 참여한 65세 이상 노인을 대상으로 하였으며 분석은 IBM SPSS/WIN 24.0 프로그램을 이용하였다. 지역사회건강조사의 표본은 복합표본 설계 하에 추출되었으므로, 층화변수, 집락변수, 가중치를 고려하여 산출하였다. 모든 통계적 유의수준은 p<.05를 기준으로 대상자의 인구학적 특성은 빈도분석 하였으며 인지 문제에 따른 안전의식은 독립표본 T 검정으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 : 노인운전자의 인지장애 경험 여부에 따른 안전의식의 차이에 대한 결과를 살펴보면 인지장애를 경험한 노인운전자 집단에서 안전벨트 착용, 음주운전 여부, 스쿨존 과속여부 항목에서 모두 유의하게 낮은 안전의식을 보였다. 노인 오토바이 운전자의 경우 인지장애를 경험한 집단에서 안전벨트 착용과 관련 된 안전의식에서는 유의한 차이를 나타냈으나, 음주운전 여부와 관련 된 항목에서는 유의한 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 결론 : 본 연구를 통해 인지장애의 경험여부는 안전의식에 영향을 준다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러므로 향후 노인운전자의 증가로 인한 교통사고 및 사회적 문제에 대한 감소와 예방을 위해 인지기능과 안전의식의 관련성을 비롯한 안전의식에 영향을 줄 수 있는 요인과 안전의식을 향상시킬 수 있는 정책적 방향성에 대한 연구가 필요할 것이다.

영문 초록

Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference in safety consciousness according to the experience of cognitive impairment of elderly Korean drivers and to provide basic data for establishing policy directions for the reduction and prevention of traffic accidents of elderly drivers, which are constantly increasing. Methods : This study targets the elderly over 65 who participated in the annual community health survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the IBM SPSS/WIN 24.0 program was used for analysis. Since the sample of the community health survey was extracted under the complex sample design, it was calculated by considering the stratification variable, colony variable, and weight. For all statistical significance levels, the demographic characteristics of the subjects were analyzed in frequency based on p<.05, and safety consciousness according to cognitive problems was analyzed by independent sample T-test. Results : Looking at the results of the difference in safety consciousness according to the experience of cognitive impairment of elderly drivers, the group of elderly drivers who experienced cognitive impairment showed significantly lower safety consciousness in the items of wearing seat belts, driving under the influence of alcohol, and whether speeding in the school zone. In the case of elderly motorcyclists, there was a significant difference in safety consciousness related to wearing seat belts in the group who experienced cognitive impairment, but there was no significant difference in the items related to whether or not to drive under the influence of alcohol. Conclusion : Through this study, it was found that the experience of cognitive impairment affects safety consciousness. Therefore, in order to reduce and prevent traffic accidents and social problems caused by the increase in the number of elderly drivers in the future, factors that can affect safety awareness, including the relationship between cognitive function and safety awareness, and policy directions that can improve safety awareness are discussed. Research will be needed.
